1. I would like to see some more examples of successful assignments & best practices, especially
from English faculty. The more specific the better -- Syllabi, Schedules, reading assignments,
homework assignments, in-class activities, student work, exams, etc.
2. Project-based learning. I like the idea of working towards producing something bigger / real-
life / useful -- it could be a semester-long project or something bigger. [For example, researching
the history of the land where the college is located and producing a permanent (outdoor)
exhibit on the history or historical ecology of the campus that would benefit the college
community. Could be done in conjunction with native plants garden, Anthro, library, etc.]
3. How to create and develop learning communities.
4. Learning best practices from other LC groups.
5. Planning for fall
6. guidelines for how each lc instructor will evaluate work in crossing borders
7. Joint essay prompts and how to support students at different levels to do essays for crossing
borders making history
8. Course schedule? (generally) for cb making history
9. Basic English coursework for non-native speakers.
10. Learning community programs.
11. How to improve basic academic skills while teaching the ECE content
12. Coordinating the content of our two LC courses
13. How to most effectively use collaboration time.
14. How to teach to the students' strengths (which could become more visible in either class).
15. How to build a broader quot;community of learning communitiesquot; that supports faculty and
students.
16. I would like examples of curriculum integration (the more the better!!) and time to plan the
learning community with my co-instructor. I would love to hear what types of creative activities
are being implemented in the classroom....group activities, ways to get students engaged in the
learning process, etc.
