Classical architecture has strongly influenced Western architectural traditions. Many modern monuments derive from ancient Greek and Roman sources in an attempt to link modern ideals to antiquity. This is evident in Washington D.C., where neoclassical styles predominate, such as the Lincoln Memorial which was modeled after the Parthenon. By basing the Lincoln Memorial on the Parthenon, architects sought to venerate Lincoln with classical ideals and link America to the first democratic society of ancient Greece.
Spanish expeditions during the 15th-18th centuries brought architectural influences from Spain to Mexico. The architecture exhibited wealth, politics, religion, and beauty through ornamentation. Styles included Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, and Churrigueresque. Churches often had domes and rectangular plans. Precious materials were used in many buildings constructed during this period in Mexico.
The document discusses Leon Battista Alberti, an Italian Renaissance polymath known for his works on architecture, sculpture, painting, and literature. Specifically, it examines some disadvantages or critiques of Alberti's views on ornamentation and decoration in architecture. While Alberti and Vitruvius viewed decoration as something extra or added to the main work, this view is questioned - if beauty is intrinsic, how can decoration that is added be considered part of it? The document also notes that Alberti's definition of beauty prioritized an intrinsic, all-encompassing quality rather than something that can accept additions or subtractions.

The passage discusses how Palladio influenced architecture through his designs of symmetrical buildings based on classical Roman styles. His works were studied closely by many architects seeking to emulate his perfection of proportion and harmony. Palladio established architectural rules and principles through his designs that lacked explanation but were seen as beautifully ideal. His influence has endured from the Renaissance to today, establishing him as one of the most influential architects in history.
The document provides a history of architecture from ancient times to the present. It begins with Neolithic architecture such as structures built by early farming societies. It then discusses ancient architecture in the Near East, Egypt, Greece, Rome, and Byzantium. Key styles and structures are described, including temples, civic buildings, and domes. The history ranges from early civilizations to contemporary global architecture, covering periods such as medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, modern, and postmodern.

Postmodernism in architecture emerged in response to Modernism, with Robert Venturi criticizing Modernism's "puritanical moral language" and preference for simplicity and rationality. Venturi proposed alternatives like "both-and" instead of "either-or" and "decorated sheds" over "duck." Examples of Postmodern architecture include the works of Australian architects Glenn Murcutt, who incorporated natural elements into his designs, and Harry Seidler, known for blending international styles with a focus on human scale.
The essay discusses the writer's father as the most influential person in their life. The father has always pushed the writer to do their best, is always supportive, and possesses good qualities like being hardworking that the writer admires. The writer's father worked hard in track in high school and still holds records that have not been broken. His dedication has rubbed off on the writer in their softball pursuits. The father will continue to have a positive impact through his guidance, support, and qualities that have shaped who the writer is.

Blind love can cause people to act against their normal beliefs and standards by doing anything to please or keep their partner. When in blind love, people are unable to distinguish right from wrong and their partner may take advantage of them, such as doing all household chores. Friends and family who see the unhealthy relationship will try to intervene but the person in blind love will not listen to their advice. Blind love can also involve an abusive relationship where one person brainwashes and controls the other by forbidding contact with others. A couple blinded by love may irrationally prioritize each other over jobs and responsibilities. Blind love also refers to love that sees no attributes and is unconditional.

The document discusses several key issues around immigration reform in the United States. It notes that there are currently around 11 million undocumented immigrants in the country. Immigrants often leave their home countries due to lack of food, unemployment, poverty, or low wages. The document also discusses the DREAM Act, which would provide a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants who came to the US as minors, go to college or serve in the military. However, some argue it amounts to amnesty. The document calls for reforms such as a temporary worker program and penalties for illegal border crossings and hiring undocumented workers. It also discusses concerns that immigrants are overusing welfare systems and family reunification laws.

Capital punishment is passionately debated in the US. Opponents argue that life imprisonment achieves the same goal as the death penalty, but supporters counter that convicted criminals escape prison every year, so only the death penalty prevents escape. Supporters also argue that the death penalty deters crime by preventing murderers from killing again, and that studies claiming innocent people have been executed are unfounded.

The passage provides an analysis of the novel "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini. It discusses how the main character Amir seeks redemption for a wrongdoing in his past. Throughout the novel, Amir is tormented by the line "There is a way to be good again", showing his desire to make up for his actions. The passage explains that Hosseini illustrates that while the past cannot be changed, redemption is still possible. It also analyzes how Hosseini depicts guilt as the primary motivator for Amir's redemption through his thoughts and interactions with other characters.
John Bowlby developed the attachment theory after observing children separated from their parents during World War 2 developing emotional problems stemming from the separation. Bowlby himself experienced separation from his mother at a young age when sent to boarding school. His main theory was that strong attachments are formed through proximity maintenance, a secure base, and separation distress. He believed children need continuous care from their primary attachment figure, usually the mother, for the first two years to develop properly.

1. Roman Architecture Essay
Roman Architecture
Many centuries before the birth of Christ, the city of Rome grew, prospered, and developed into a
thriving Republic. As in most cultures, Rome's buildings became more elaborate and impressive.
They developed fantastic building technologies and ideas. The feats of Roman engineers were
groundbreaking, and many structures built by this culture still stand today. With knowledge
borrowed from the Greeks, Rome made impressive architectural achievements, these were namely
major attributes of buildings, colossal structures, and a legacy that would influence later buildings
(Cornell and Matthews 11).
According to legend, the city of Rome was founded in about 753 BC, by a group of shepherds. It sat

The ancient Romans created and borrowed fundamental types of concepts that made up buildings.
The ideas that the Romans borrowed were basic ideas such as the column. A column is a vertical
shaped pillar with the chief design concern of supporting a building. Most columns consist of three
parts, the base, the shaft, and the capital. The shaft is usually cylindrical in shape. The Greeks had
three basic types of columns, Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian. All three types have narrow fillets on
them. These were small vertical slits that ran the length of the column. The Romans modified the
column and added two types, Truscan and Composile. The columns became widely used in homes
and temples in Greece and later in Rome ("Architecture").
The Romans also borrowed from the Greeks other major structural designs. On the top of a column
on most temples and public buildings rested an Entablature. This is a classic triangular shaped
faะยงade, or front of a building. The Entablature consists of four parts. The lowest part is the
Architrave, which sits on top of the capital or upper part of a column. On top of that, the frieze was
typically decorated with horizontal bands. The Cornice forms the upper part of the Entablature and
extols beyond the frieze on the sides. On the very top sits a Pediment, a triangular segment between
the lower Entablature and the roof ("Architecture").

Influences of Spanish Architecture in Mexico
Spanish expeditions conducted during the seventh and eighteenth century has brought a variety of
architectural and artistic influences to the different indigenous regions of the New Americas. It is
documented that "the Architecture of Mexico began with the Spanish conquest of the country."
(Mullen, 18) The architecture of Mexico has exhibited much richness and wealth, has displayed the
political and religious conditions of the time, and has showed off the countries beauty and grace
through different artistic devices, mainly through the ornamentation of buildings. The architecture
that developed in Mexico during the military expeditions and colonization of Mexico has brought

Churches built during this period usually had a dome along with a rectangular plan. This was the
period of introduction to both domes and the cruciform plan in the New Americas.
During the Spanish conquest through the Americas the conquistadores discovered mining as a
valuable commodity in Mexico. Knowing how precious these metals were, the conquistadores forced
the Indians to labor for large quantities of these precious minerals. The Spaniards also found lot of
material available for the use of masonry. All of these conditions made it possible for the
construction of many churches, palaces, houses, bridges, and aqueducts to have been built. The
advancement of Spanish architecture in the New Americas incorporated different styles, which
include Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Moorish, Mudejar and the Churrigueresque orders.
All these different orders of architecture brought from Spain have highly influenced the religious life
of American Natives. There are three cities in Mexico in which I noticed an important significance of
religious architecture in the community; these being Puebla, Cholula, and Tlaxcala, each colonial
city displaying different styles of colonial architecture. The architecture in Puebla, Mexico is
comprised of Franciscan and Mexican Baroque Architecture. The city of Puebla is found about 60
miles southeast of Mexico City. Throughout its history is has been known by various names: City of

5. Architecture Analysis
When humans described architecture common synonyms that they might use would being design,
building, planning, engineering, shape, color and more other words. My definition of architecture is
by using the combination of art and math. The architect main goal to design a structure that is going
to make the client comfortable. In order to give the client what they need and what they have to be
comfortable in the space that the architect is planning for them. It's important for architects to know
the average measurement for thinks like the hallway, room, bathroom, etc. Knowing all those
measurement is where math comes to play. You have a piece of land and by using math you have to
measure out everything in order to organize how to fix everything you need. Without coming to the
client uncomfortable by having everything to big or too small. No matter what you're dealing with if
it's a house, hotel, office building in order for an architecture to construct a functional and
comfortable structure its have to within the guidelines of the codes....show more content...
That's been art comes to play. The art of architecture is what make a client in invest in the structure.
Having art gives the structured life. For the architect, their canvas is the plot of land that they have
to build. It's up to the architect to create the structure into a masterpiece for the community. Is math
is to make the structure safe and the art is hat makes the structure appealing to the humans eyes. You
can define architecture many ways and they all can be right. Architecture is a different language that

6. Essay on Greek Architecture
Greek Architecture
The Greek culture has had a huge impact on the history of the world. There is something Greek in
almost everything, especially in the world's architecture. Greece no longer had one king, so they
focused on building temples for their gods. Architecture began small and plain but evolved into
impressive pieces of art. As time passed from the Archaic period to theHellenistic period, the people
of Greece developed a type of formula for their buildings and their pieces of art.
In Ancient Greece, religion dominated their life, so it is understandable that their architecture would
be dominated by their religion. Before Greece became many different cityโstates, they had kings,

They are also described as being entasis, meaning that about two thirds of the way up the column
begins to taper in. The fluting of the columns was hallowed out semiโcircles. The entablature of a
Doric temple is also very plain. The cornice is plain, meaning there is no ornament on the cornice.
The frieze is broken up into triglyphs and metopes. A triglyph are a series of sculpted vertical lines,
and a metope is a plain area. The architrave is one full piece with no ornament.
An Ionic temple is considered to be feminine. The Ionic temple is very different to the Doric. An
Ionic column is very sleek and slender. Just like the Doric column, the Ionic column is
proportioned to its diameter. The height of an Ionic column is nine to ten times the diameter. The
column has a base and the capital is more decorative with the use of scroll volutes. The fluting is
very much like the Doric except there is a flat area in between every hallowed out semiโcircle. The
entablature of an Ionic temple has a lot more decoration. The cornice and the frieze with both have
some sort of ornament or sculpture. The architrave is broken up into three or four pieces.
The Corinthian order is not used much in Ancient Greece. The Corinthian column is much like the
Ionic but the capital is decorated with acanthus leaves. The Corinthian column is used mostly on the
interior and becomes widely used in Ancient Rome.

7. Classical Architecture Essay
Classical Architecture
The West has always put a great emphasis on how beholden it is to many cultural and political
institutions derived from Classical Antiquity. This has been most consistent in aesthetic conceptions
of art and architecture. Many monuments and architectural traditions of the West derive directly
from ancient sources, in an attempt to link the ideals of modern life with those of ancient Greece and
Rome. Nowhere is this more evident than in the capitol of the United States where a NeoโClassical

The Parthenon has served as an architectural model on which to instill the connection between the
Ancient and Modern worlds.
It is no wonder that the young American Republic would latch onto the NeoโClassical ideal that
dominated European aesthetics for the first half of the 19th century. They wished to both sanctify a
fallen leader and idealized man, and make a conscious connection with the first democratic society.
They chose the Parthenon as their model precisely because it serves as the climax of the Greek
political and artistic lives.
Lincoln would be sitting within a recess behind fluted columns, much like the venerated statue of
Athena within the Parthenon by the sculptor Pheidias. This temple structure dedicated to Lincoln
simultaneously venerates an American President and links him with every core Classical ideal by its
modeling the design of the Parthenon. American architects seemed to be insinuating that the capitol
of the new Republic was a new Athens. This was politically, as a democratic Republic, and culturally
as the supposed exemplar of the liberal humanist vision of the free citizen. A monument like the
Lincoln Memorial coalesced what the Republic desired itself to stand for. The same thing transpired
in 5th century BCE when Pericles pushed for the rebuilding of the Acropolis, and the Parthenon. Its
