SOC presentation- Building a Security Operations CenterMichael Nickle
Presentation I used to give on the topic of using a SIM/SIEM to unify the information stream flowing into the SOC. This piece of collateral was used to help close the largest SIEM deal (Product and services) that my employer achieved with this product line.
here's where Microsoft has invested, across these areas: identity and access management, apps and data security, network security, threat protection, and security management.
We’ve put a tremendous amount of investment into these areas and the way it shows up is across a pretty broad array of product areas and features.
Our Identity and Access Management tools enable you to take an identity-based approach to security, and establish truly conditional access policies
Our App and Data Security help you protect your apps and your data as it moves around—both inside and outside your organization
Azure includes a robust networking infrastructure with built-in security controls for your application and service connectivity.
Our Threat Protection capabilities are built in and fully integrated, so you can strengthen both pre-breach protection with deep capabilities across e-mail, collaboration services, and end points including hardware based protection; and post-breach detection that includes memory and kernel based protection and response with automation.
And our Security Management tools give you the visibility and more importantly the guidance to manage policy centrally

AWS IoT is a managed cloud platform that lets connected devices easily and securely interact with cloud applications and other devices. This webinar will introduce the lifecycle of an IoT thing and the mechanisms used by AWS IoT to manage things. These mechanisms can be used to securely build and provision things, manage deployment, manage thing health, and integrate with other AWS services. And when the life of the thing has come to an end, we will show you how to retire the thing, keeping your solution secure.
Learning Objectives:
• Common IoT Thing Management Issues
• AWS IoT Security and Access Control Mechanisms
Who Should Attend:
• Technical Decision Makers, Developers, Makers
How do APIs and IoT relate? The answer is not as simple as merely adding an API on top of a dumb device, but rather about understanding the architectural patterns for implementing an IoT fabric. There are typically two or three trends:
Exposing the device to a management framework
Exposing that management framework to a business centric logic
Exposing that business layer and data to end users.
This last trend is the IoT stack, which involves a new shift in the separation of what stuff happens, where data lives and where the interface lies. For instance, it's a mix of architectural styles between cloud, APIs and native hardware/software configurations.

Why integration is key in IoT solutions? (Sam Vanhoutte @Integrate2017)Codit
While working on several Internet of Things projects with different customers in Europe, it became clear that Integration matters more than ever. Building an overall IoT solution requires many different technologies and skills. The Architect role is crucial to combining different services into one solid solution. Integration skills are extremely important in building robust and scalable IoT solutions. Every phase of the IoT value chain requires integration, since IoT solutions are distributed and decoupled by nature. Retro-fitting existing devices? Routing of telemetry data? Or even exposing analytics results through secured APIs? All these challenges require integration skills. Skills that are very familiar to specialists in the Integration business. This presentation will explain why these are great times to be an Integration expert and how we can help tackling current challenges.
Discover existing customer stories from various industries such as manufacturing, logistics and construction. No theoretical use cases, but in-depth insights that will help you on how to get started with IoT.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.
Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Best Practice :: Think Big. Start Small.
• Build to an architecture that will scale, but start
prototyping with a small number of devices.
• Sometimes it’s hard to predict which processing
framework will be the most suitable for you.
• It’s much easier to work through device identity,
management/update and security at small scale.
13. 13
Best Practice :: Telemetry First
• Data might be not in the format you expect.
• Often it’s hard to predict which data provides value until
you build something.
• Think about not only device telemetry but also diagnostics
telemetry.
14. 14
Best Practice :: Don’t Interrupt Fast Path
• Don’t process between high-scale components unless
you know what you’re doing.
• Pass only valuable data which really needs to be
processed in real-time.
15. 15
Best Practice :: Security as a Culture
• Think about security, identity and management from the
very beginning.
• Security is a shared responsibility between Azure and
the customer.
• Think about security on the device, at the field gateway
(if exists) and in the cloud.

Best Practice :: Understand Customer’s Business Model
• Data architecture more important than solution
architecture
• Plan and budget appropriately through simple
predictable scenarios
• Remember that you need to support millions of assets
