Salvia Officials for

4. Salvia officials is
easily recognized
in the wild nature,
though its cultivars
may differ. It is

country.
I have observed it

park.
5. Salvia
officials is a
photosyntheti

process takes
place in the
chlorophyll
that the
leaves of the
plant contain.
7. Salvia is one of the
angiosperm plants. It
is reproduced by the
production of seeds.
8. The plant
comes from the
Mediterranean
region with its
hot and dry
summers. Now
it is naturalized
in many places
on the Earth.
On the picture
two cultivars or
Salvia are

9. Salvia officials
does not have

Because of the
essential oils it

pollutants and
grows aside the

Editor's Notes
Salvia Officials, also known as sage, common sage, culinary sage.
This is a plant from the Lamiaceae mint family. Though it comes from the Mediterranean region, now it is spread worldwide.
The name Officials is applied because it was applied in the monasteries for treatment and now it is still well-known for the culinary and healing properties.
Salvia officials is a common plant that is wide-spread in nature. It can be found aside the roads, in parks and gardens in late spring and early summer, depending on the region. I have been observing Salvia Officials many times and can easily identify it. It’s leaves have a specific smell and flowers are distinguishable because of the color.
I have chosen this plant to pay attention to it. Perhaps everyone have seen it but not many students can identify it in the wild nature. I have also taken this plant, as it is so widely applied in medicine and culinary. There is a lot of applications of this plant and I want everyone would be able to identify it.
I have been observing Salvia Officials many times in parks, gardens as there is many cultivars of this plant. I have also seen it in the wild nature both in the US and in Europe and touched its leaves as they give a specific but pleasant smell. The plant is widely spread and may be easily recognized. In places where it is allowed, it can be collected for preparation of remedies as it has healing properties and is applied in medicine.
As the other plants, Salvia officials produces its energy in the process of photosynthesis – a process of transformation of the energy of the sun into the chemical energy of carbohydrates. Photosynthesis takes place mostly in the leaves of the plant, where in the cell organelles called chloroplasts in the substance named chlorophyll carbohydrates are synthesized of carbon dioxide and water with the help of sun energy.
I have been observing Salvia Officials many times in parks, gardens as there is many cultivars of this plant. I have also seen it in the wild nature both in the US and in Europe and touched its leaves as they give a specific but pleasant smell. It has a substantial size of 1 meter (while cultivars are smaller).
The reproductive organ of Salvia is its flower where seeds are produced. It contains both male cells (microsperms) and female cells (macrosperms) in the oe flower (so they are hermaphrodites). The flowers are bright colored and attract pollinators that transit microsperms from one plant to another ((fertilization). The seeds are covered with multiply layers and contain nutrients for the future seedings.
Salvia officials originally comes from the Mediterranean region though now it is a pervasive plant that can be found thought all the South and Eastern Europe, in the North Africa, North and South America and other parts of the world. It is not demanding to the soil composition and grows well on the poor soils though needs much insolation and the level of precipitations. It prefers open sunny places with a mild humidity.
Salvia officials is a surprisingly steady to the factors of natural environment plant. It has low sensitivity to pollutants and grows in the industrial areas and aside the roads. It is not beloved by ruminants due to the high concentration of essential oils in its leaves practically does not have natural predators. However, in some areas it is widely collected for the application in medicine and there its population may decline. However, it does not need special measures of protection because of the high reproduction potential.
