Current Issues in Curriculum Development in the Philippines K to 12: Its Implications across the Curriculum Focused on Private High School -- Miriam College High School A lot of issues were raised about the implementation of K-12 in the Philippine education system. Many are worrying that it might not be effective. Others think that it won’t make any improvement. But in the case of Miriam College High school, they are looking positively for its results. Upon hearing both facts and opinions from a number of resources, the researchers think that its implementation can result in large benefits to the society of the Philippines and its citizens. There will be problems because of the changes in the curriculum but the researchers believe that Filipinos will cope up soon. They’ll learn, in no time, to make the best out of the skills they’ll acquire through the changes. Better education system will bring better and more responsible citizens. Better citizens will lead to a better country.

Teenage pregnancy is pregnancy in human females under the age of 20. A pregnancy can take place after the start of puberty before the first menstrual period but usually occurs after the onset. In well-nourished girls, menarche usually takes place around the age of 12 or 13. Pregnant teenagers face many of the same obstetrics issues as other women. There are, however, additional medical concerns for mothers aged below 15 years of age. For mothers aged 15–19, risks are associated more with socioeconomic factors than with the biological effects of age. Risks of low birth weight, premature labor, anemia, and pre-eclampsia are connected to the biological age itself, as it was observed in teen births even after controlling for other risk factors (such as utilization of antenatal care etc.). In developed countries, teenage pregnancies are often associated with social issues, including lower educational levels, higher rates of poverty, and other poorer life outcomes in children of teenage mothers. Teenage pregnancy in developed countries is usually outside of marriage, and carries a social stigma in many communities and cultures. By contrast, teenage parents in developing countries are often married, and their pregnancies welcomed by family and society. However, in these societies, early pregnancy may combine with malnutrition and poor health care to cause medical problems. Teenage pregnancies appear to be preventable by comprehensive sex education and access to birth control. Abstinence-only sex education does not appear to be effective. Through generations teenage pregnancy has converted into one of the Philippines' most challenging social issues. Becoming pregnant at such an early age brings multiple obstacles such as, lower expectations of finishing high school, not attending college, and less success in the job industry. Not only do these obstacles regard the teenage parents but harm their unborn child in academic and health issues, for instance tending to score less optimally on assessments of cognitive development and academic achievement, and also tend to exhibit more problem behaviors than other children. Other than social dilemmas there are certain health issues that are more likely to appear in a teenage pregnancy for example the baby is more likely to have a low birth weight, to be born before term, and have developmental delay. The issue we focus on is premarital sex among teenager that results to teenage pregnancy. Further explanation will be discussed in the parts to follow.

Once there was a little who suspects her neighbor of being a witch. She used different superstitions to prove her neighbor’s identity as a witch but soon she have found out that her neighbor’s alleged practices as a witch was actually her neighbor’s way of coping with life as she grows old alone. The little girl realized that behind the witch-like ways of her neighbor, her neighbor is actually a good old woman who is longing for love and care of a family member. From then on, the little girl took care of the old woman and treated her like her own grandmother.

Discover the Kisan Call Centre: Your Gateway to Agricultural Assistance KISAN CALL CENTRE In order to harness the potential of ICT in Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare launched the scheme “Kisan Call Centres” (KCCs) on January 21, 2004. Main aim of the scheme is to answer farmers’ queries on a telephone call in their own language. These call centres are working in 21 different locations in the country covering all the States and UTs. A countrywide common eleven digit Toll Free Number 1800-180-1551 has been allotted for Kisan Call Centre. This number is accessible through mobile phones and landlines of all telecom networks including private service providers. Replies to the farmers’ queries are given in 22 local languages. Kisan Call Centre services are available from 6.00 AM to 10.00 PM on all seven days of the week at each KCC location. Kisan Call Centre agents known as Farm Tele Advisors (FTAs), who are graduate or above (i.e. PG or Doctorate) in Agriculture or allied sectors (Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Poultry, Bee-Keeping, Sericulture, Aquaculture, Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Marketing, Bio-Technology, Home Science, etc.) and possess excellent communication skills in respective local language. Queries which cannot be answered by FTAs are transferred to higher level experts. These experts are Subject Matter Specialists (SMSs) of State Departments of Agriculture (SDAs), ICAR Institutes, KVKs and State Agricultural Universities (SAUs). A Kisan Knowledge Management System (KKMS) has been developed to capture all the details of the caller and sending gist of answer given through SMS. KKMS has its independent website : http://dackkms.gov.in. The KCC, FTAs working at various KCC locations throughout the country have access to this website through their specific IDs and password provided to them.
