Boosting new media accessibility - Scott HollierWeb Directions
This talk focuses on the efforts engaged by W3C and its members to promote and improve web standards and in particular HTML 5 with mechanisms to allow people with disabilities to access multimedia content, including audio and video.
Scott will present the current user experiences of accessibility and the challenges of getting uptake in government. This would include the take-up of W3C access standards within government, use of WCAG and ATAG by developers, the technical challenges of video-specific implementations of captioning and audio description, and ways in which such challenges can be better addressed through the involvement of Internet users.
Corporate presentation of a few modern presentation tools that may work as a replacement to PowerPoint for customer presentations. ****Please download and PLAY in Slideshow mode and turn up the volume****
IN THIS SUMMARY
In Get Seen, Steve Garfield describes how businesses and individuals can use online video to increase visibility. He first deals with the process of creating online videos, and then explores the task of sharing and distributing videos. One of the most important elements involved when creating a successful online video is to effectively convey a compelling story. In fact, high production quality is not nearly as important as the content itself. Essentially, online video allows for communication between viewers and creators. What sets online video apart from television is the ability of its audience to immediately respond to and get feedback from the video’s producer.

Never before have we seen such growth and diversity in the interactive field. New devices, services and development tools are flooding the market. Like many other languages the Flash platform continues to evolve. We’ll take a look into the crystal ball to determine what’s next for Flash by dispelling myths and uncovering truths. This presentation will reveal industry trends and size up the competition to find out what Flash is ready for and where it will fall short. Topics will include Flash for mobile devices, desktop applications and web content along with new features available in Flash Player 10.1. Are you ready for the future of Flash?
In your organization, you frequently need to train others on how things are done. Whether it's for customers or new employees, there is information you know that they will benefit from.
Almost every organization offers some form of training or classes or seminars to employees (and sometimes to customers) but very few are succeeding in getting those “students” to learn. In this workshop, we will explore the use of technology and E-Learning environments to improve the actual knowledge transfer in your organization.
Much of today's learning can take place on-line in organized, downloadable segments and we'll show you the best way to create and deliver your important content using technology. We'll also discuss on-demand reference systems and the types of information that is best made available from a webpage or smartphone instead of asking people to memorize it. No more wasting time with on-the-job training or day-long classes that are not effective.
Here are some of the topics that will be covered:
• How to design courses so that learning really takes place
• What kinds of knowledge or information is best taught and what is best made available from a Wiki or other reference system?
• Tools for “recording” PowerPoint presentations (and other applications) so that others can learn on their own time
• The use of new media (video and audio) in your e-learning courseware
• Learning Management Systems and keeping track of learner’s progress

We created Goopi to deal with the new unmet requirements of today's media and advertising world.
Specifically, the need to customise and rapidly render multiple versions of the same ad to meet the increasingly detailed and variable profiles of buyers from around the world.
This isn’t just about replacing one sound track with another This goes much further, giving brand managers, the ability to freeze those elements which must never change while giving local brand managers the ability to change everything else - all at little cost and without any particular technical skills. That’s Goopi.
We help you create as many broadcast quality variations of an ad and/or allow users to create professional looking content without the expense, time, or hassle that normally accompanies this work.
How can this be?
Goopi is a patented technology which lives in the cloud and like many cloud services, improves in performance the more computers are connected to it. What used to take 10 hours to render now takes just 10 minutes to complete - for a cost of about 100 dollars.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

In 2009 There were less than 3 exabytes consumed per month (reveal exponential growth chart) by the end of 2014 that number should approach 24 Exabytes! To give some perspective- All the text in the Library of Congress, every book, newspaper, and magazine, would only take up 10 Terabytes, One Exabyte Could hold 100,000 Libraries of Congress. I’m not sure if 2.4 Million Libraries of congress is easier to picture, but I hope that helps.
