The document provides information about upcoming events at Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church. It announces that the church will be having a "Season of Thanks" to give thanks for its past, present, and future. It also advertises several church services, classes, meetings and social events happening throughout the month, including a first communion preparation class, a bible study on the life of Christ, and a pastor's open house. It encourages members to support the church through stewardship and reminds about wearing name tags to help welcome visitors.

What Should be the Christian View of Anime?Joe Muraguri
We will learn what Anime is and see what a Christian should consider before watching anime movies? We will also learn a little bit of Shintoism religion and hentai (the craze of internet pornography today).
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

21. SOCK IT AWAY FOR CALVARY!
Are you a saver? Do you put things away just in case you need
them? Ten years ago we ‘Socked It Away for Calvary.’ Decorated
socks were handed out. If you still have yours… and I know
some of you do!... please bring them to the church picnic on
September 7th … or to church that morning!. If you don’t have
one or can’t find the one you had…no worries…we will have
others for you. Beginning on September 7th we will once again
‘Sock it Away for Calvary.’ You are challenged to put your spare
change in the sock every day. The socks will be collected in
November when we dump all the change (paper money is
welcomed too) into a pot … making a ‘joyful noise’ to the Lord!!
This money will be used for debt reduction…just like it was 10
years ago!

24. Good news: not only will we have monthly events for
Calvary Kids; we will also have Sunday School for children
return on October 5 at 9:30 a.m. in a new format with
new teachers. On the first Sunday of each month, we
will have an intergenerational Sunday School event in the
sanctuary. All ages are welcome to attend; it will be led
by various leaders each month. On the other three (or
four) Sunday mornings, children fifth grade and younger
will gather in one class to be taught by two of our recent
confirmands, Nick Erslan and Breanna Murphy. Don’t
miss out on the fun and learning!
25. YOUTH ROOM PROJECT
As part of the preparation for our
conversion of the old sanctuary (the
chapel) into a Youth Center, we will be
removing the old pews. Members may
purchase these; the price is yet to be
determined. You may reserve your pew
by writing your name on the masking tape
placed on each pew; first-come, first-served.
