This document discusses ankle arthrodesis, which refers to the surgical fusion of bones in the ankle joint. The diseased cartilage is removed, the bone ends are cut off and fused together with internal fixation to relieve pain while restricting joint movement. Ankle arthrodesis is commonly performed for end-stage ankle arthritis. There are different types including subtalar, pantalar, and triple arthrodesis, which fuse different ankle and foot joints. Complications can include nonunion, nerve injuries, and adjacent hindfoot arthritis. Total ankle replacement is an alternative but ankle arthrodesis remains the preferred treatment for ankle arthritis.
EPL Tendon Rupture Makes Difficult To Straighten the ThumpJeffBudoff
The EPL tendon is the structure that extends the thumb and keeps it from falling into the palm. Following a wrist fracture, or sometimes due to arthritis and bone spur formation, the EPL tendon can rupture. In cases of arthritis, the EPL tendon can rub across a bone spur until it abrades and fails.

The knee is prone to injuries like ACL tears, meniscus tears, and patellar tendinitis. ACL tears often require surgery and extensive rehabilitation, while meniscus tears can be treated with physical therapy or arthroscopic surgery. Patellar tendinitis is typically managed with rest, physical therapy, and anti-inflammatory medications. Knee clinics offer specialized care for these injuries, with knee specialists providing accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment plans to facilitate prompt recovery and long-term joint health.

JOINTS CLASSIFICATION AND DISORDERS.pptxMsSapnaSapna
A joint is the part of the body where two or more bones meet to allow movement. Generally speaking, the greater the range of movement, the higher the risk of injury because the strength of the joint is reduced. The six types of freely movable joint include ball and socket, saddle, hinge, condyloid, pivot and gliding.

Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Acetabularia Information For Class 9 .docxvaibhavrinwa19
Acetabularia acetabulum is a single-celled green alga that in its vegetative state is morphologically differentiated into a basal rhizoid and an axially elongated stalk, which bears whorls of branching hairs. The single diploid nucleus resides in the rhizoid.
2. Arthrodesis
Arthrodesis refers to the fusion of two or more bones in a joint.
The diseased cartilage is removed, the bone ends are cut off, and the two bone
ends are fused into one solid bone with metal internal fixation.
Arthrodesis result in relief of pain but at the same time salvage of associated joint;
resulting in restricted/ no movements at that joint.
3. Indications of Arthrodesis
Painful arthritis
I. infection
II. trauma (most common cause)
III. chronic instability
IV. AVN of the talus
V. inflammatory arthropathy
VI. primary OA
7. Subtalar arthrodesis
The subtalar joint is a complex
joint located below the ankle
joint and is formed by the union
of the heel (calcaneus) and the
talus (ankle) bone.
The subtalar joint allows side-
side movement of the foot
(inversion & eversion).
Sub Talar Arthrodesis will result
in fusion of calcaneus and talus.
8.
9. Pantalar arthrodesis
Pantalar arthrodesis refers to surgical fusion of the ankle, subtalar, talonavicu-
lar, and commonly the calcaneocuboid joints.
10. Triple Arthrodesis
Triple" arthrodesis
refers to a fusion
procedure of
three joints of the
hindfoot and
midfoot, the
subtalar joint
(talus and
calcaneus), the
talonavicular
joint, and the
calcaneocuboid
joint.
11.
12. Complications of Ankle Joint
Nonunion
10% non union rate
tobacco users have 2.7x risk
neuropathy is greatest risk factor for persistent nonunion with revision of nonunion
Lateral plantar nerve injury
Superficial peroneal nerve
injury to superficial peroneal nerve during transfibular approach
Hindfoot arthritis
adjacent hindfoot arthritis commonly occurs following fusion
isolated hindfoot arthritis due to chronic pes planus is treated with subtalar joint
arthrodesis
13. Alternative to Ankle Arthrodesis
Total ankle replacement is a
type of joint
replacement surgery. It's also
called ankle arthroplasty.
Trials are ongoing about efficacy
of TAR.
Still preferred modality for ankle
arthritis and pain is Ankle
Arthrodesis.
