Dolphins have an adaptation that allows them to sleep while breathing by only sleeping with half their brain at a time. They give birth tail first and nurse their young for 1-1.5 years before males leave their mother's pod. Dolphins hunt cooperatively in pods, herding and corralling fish into shallow water so they can take turns swimming through and eating fish, squid, and shrimp.
