It is when the animal is mistreated, or put into a
situation where the animal can or has been treated
poorly, or unfairly.
Sometimes the person does not know what they’re
doing is effecting the animal incorrectly but most of
the time it is on purpose.

• Horses, chickens, and
other livestock
• Alligators

Why Are People Cruel to Animals?
 The people usually feel power less unnoticed or feeling controlled by others. There
goal is usually to shock, threaten , intimidate, offend others or to go against
society's rules.
 Surveys suggest that those who purposefully abuse animals are mostly males
under the age of thirty while those involved in animal hoarding are usually females
over the age of sixty (Lockwood 2008).
 Some of the people are cruel to animals because they have seen this behavior in
past experiences.
Chicken Abuse
• Chickens are among
the most abused
animals in our food
industry.
• There are very few laws
in place that protect
them.
• With red meat
becoming less popular,
the demand for chicken
and turkey is growing.
• Chickens exploited for
their meat are called
"broilers".
Dog abuse
*Dog cruelty is often defined as
inflicting unnecessary pain and
suffering on dogs.
PITBULLS ARE THE MOST ABUSED
DOG ON THE PLANET
What is horse abuse

Seal cruelty
Canadian hunters have been killing more then
thousands of BABY seals and this happens
every year. worst of all the dead bodies are left
in the ice to rot because there is no use for it.
they didn't even follow Canada's animal welfare
standards. one weapon that is used is a club
with a metal hook called a " hakapiks". sadly
the babies cannot escape or fight back so the
hunters get an advantage. the seals killed are
younger then 3 months. seal products are
banned in the U.S since 1972. seals are killed
for their fur.
Alligator wrestling
Alligators get disturbed in the
positions that they are forced in.
Sometimes the alligators lose
consciousness. They drag the
alligator by its tail and hit it with
sticks. The wrestler sits on top of
the alligator which cuts off
circulation. Freestyle alligator
wrestling competion is when they
fight the alligator in a deep water
pit.
How Can we Help
Here are some ways to help
• Be aware of signs of animal cruelty
• Call the animal control officers at your
local humane society if necessary
• Tell them critical information so they
can try their best to make sure the
animal doesn't get harmed.
• Spread the word
• Donate money/ animal supplies to
organizations such as P.E.T.A., ASPCA,
WSPCA, and more
