Ancient Egyptians had many gods and goddesses they believed in like Anubis the god of the dead, Bastet the cat goddess, Horus the falcon god, Isis the goddess of women and children, Osiris the god of death and rebirth, and Ra the sun god. They also used hieroglyphics as a form of writing with pictures, mummified bodies to preserve them for the afterlife, built pyramids as tombs for pharaohs, and considered the pharaoh the link between humans and gods as the ruler of Egypt. Important elements of their culture included the Nile River, canopic jars containing organs, and scarabs which symbolized protection.
