with the countries
Libya, Israel &
Sudan. Egypt is

Egypt depends on the Nile River. In the past, it’s annual
floods brought soil enriching silt, it made Egypt an
exporter of food. Papyrus reed found near the Nile
were made into the first paper!
After a Pharaoh died they would bury him with the
things that he liked. The Egyptians believed that there
would be a new life and the stuff they buried with him
would go with him to the new life. Sometimes, they
even killed slaves and buried them with the Pharaoh
so they could serve him in the new life.
“Akhenaton” was a fervent worshipper of the sun disk
Aton. In 1887 a collection of some 377 clay tablets were
found at Tel el-Amarna which belonged to him. “King
Tut’s” golden tomb furnishings were uncovered by
Archaeologists and have been displayed in museums.
Egyptians believed that Pharaoh was their god.
Egyptians had many other gods. The names of 740 of
these were found in a tomb. Egypt’s most prominent
gods had human bodies with animals heads. They
used cats, jackals, crocodiles, baboons and various
birds.
For many years Jacob’s big family lived at peace in
Egypt. Joseph, who was the most important man
in Egypt next to Pharaoh the king, took care of
them. But then Joseph died. And a new Pharaoh,
who did not like the Israelites, became king in
Egypt.
So this bad Pharaoh made the Israelites slaves. And
he put men in charge of them who were mean
and cruel. They forced the Israelites to work very
hard building cities for Pharaoh.
Many years later, God told Moses: ‘I have seen the
suffering of my people in Egypt. So I am going to
free them, and you are the one I am sending to
lead my people out of Egypt.’
