Bid Hunter was a mobile reverse auction project that allowed subscribers to bid on products and services via SMS. It integrated an SMS system into an existing legacy system to enable two-way SMS interactions for the auctions. The system parsed and processed SMS bids alongside web bids. It also sent notifications and handled various challenges like carrier restrictions and legal compliance. The solution implemented automatic two-way SMS using the legacy system, parsed keyword-based SMS bids, and provided a web interface to manage auctions, users, and prizes.

2. OVERVIEW
• Mobile Reverse Auctions or “Lowest-Bid Auction” a unique auction method
involving a high level of strategy and competition offered to subscribers
• Products or services such as electronic gadgets, household items, and gift
packages etc. placed on auction for a preset time.The player who holds the
“Lowest Unique Bid” at the closing of the auction wins
• This was an external pluggable system integrated with existing legacy system of
Flycell which consists of core engine and PLEX engine to handle mobile
requests and responses in special tailored manner to support different carriers,
integrators and connection types
• The system also dealt with serving content to mobile phones based on the
make-model and its restrictions/support for different content types

• Implementing two way SMS interaction between the auction system and
users
• Parsing and processing of SMS bids (merged with web free bids)
• Hints and overall notifications
