William Bradford was a founding father of Plymouth Colony who served as governor for over 30 years. He was born in England in 1590 and helped establish the first permanent English settlement in New England in 1620. Throughout his life, Bradford wrote Of Plymouth Plantation, one of the earliest histories of European colonization in North America, to document the colony's origins and development.
