Plant Cell Fusion (PCF) for
Grape Cultivation
Function of Amino Acids in PCF
• Enhanced Vine Growth and Development
• Yields larger grapes
• Improved color and taste
• Higher Brix level
• Improved hot weather resistance
• Boosts plant natural immune system
• Prevents immature fruit
• Superior coloration
• Quicker harvests
• Stimulates microbial activity in soil
Evidence
• Korea Grape Association (KGA)
▫ KGA is a nongovernmental organization (NGA) in
Korea which was established in 1980 and nearly 100%
of grape farmers in Korea are members.
▫ KGA is primarily responsible for providing the latest
grape industry information, technology exchange,
education, training, and R&D.
History
• 2011-2012 – A select group of KGA members conducted
experimental testing in their fields.
• 2013 – Based on the positive results, all KGA members
unanimously decided to use PCF.
• 2014 – Many growers reported that soil conditioning
work was no longer required. In years past, soil
transplants were necessary to maintain desired nutrient
levels for the following season.
Interview - 2011
• Mr. Park, YongHa
▫ Tested on experimental field.
▫ Applied from start up step.
After application
- Vigor of the plant was excellent throughout the entire season.
- The reaction after application was quick.
- Even during summer heat wave the vigor was ideal.
- Grower was experiencing weak vigor. He observed smooth coloration
after application of PCF.
- Grower reported that the absorption rate of PCF was much higher than
other amino acid products he had used in the past. This had a major
impact on the response time by which plants showed noticeable
improvements.
Interview - 2012
• Mr. Liu, KeunSoon
▫ Tested on 0.5 acre of Kyoho grapes.
▫ Applied 2 times after bearing.
▫ Before application of PCF, this grower reported weak vigor and was
planning on uprooting vines at end of season.
After application
- Leaves were green and healthy.
- The vigor of the vine recovered.
- Grower decided not to uproot the vines, since the plants made a full
recovery.
Interview - 2012
• Mr. Kim, YeonJip
▫ Tested on 1.0 acre of Kyoho and Alexandria grapes.
▫ Applied from growing step.
▫ For comparison purposes, this grower used a competitor’s amino acid
product from Japan on 0.5 acre.
After application
- Growth and development of the vines were excellent.
- PCF treated plants had superior vigor and grape size compared to those
plants treated with the competitor’s product.
- The coloration of the grapes were vastly improved as well.
- The PCF treated grapes won top honors at auction.
- Grower decided to apply PCF to entire crop the following season.
Interview - 2012
• Mr. Kim, JangSu
▫ Tested on 1.0 acre of Kyoho grapes.
▫ Applied from growing step.
After application
- Growth and development of the vines were excellent.
- Plants produced larger grapes.
- Sweetness of the grapes improved; Brix level increased.
Interview - 2012
• Mr. Choi, JaeJoon
▫ Tested on 0.5 acre of Beni-Ballade grapes in green house.
▫ Applied 2 times from 2nd enlargement stage.
After application
- Vines showed signs of overgrowth due to over application of PCF.
- The grapes were over weight and coloration was delayed.
- This grower was used to an existing nutrient product, which required
more frequent applications at higher concentrations.
- The following season, grower adjusted number of applications and
mixture concentration and reported excellent results.
- These grapes won top honors at auction.
Interview - 2012
• Mr. Nam, ByeongKi
▫ Tested on 0.5 acre of Campbell grapes.
▫ Applied 5 times during entire season.
After application
- The grape vigor was very stable compared to previous harvests.
- Experienced early harvesting with exceptional coloration.
- Reported no immature fruit.
- Great taste and high Brix level.
- Earned Top 3 award at auction.
Interview - 2012
• Mr. Huang, YiChang
▫ Tested on 1.0 acre of Campbell grapes.
▫ Applied 4 times during entire season.
 10 days before flowering, 7 days after pollination, before coloration,
and during coloration.
After application
- Leaves were much thicker and greener.
- Flower stalk grew in length.
- Plant vigor was greatly improved.
- Coloration was smooth and consistent.
- Harvest occurred 7~10 days earlier compared to previous seasons.
- Great taste and higher Brix level.
- Reported PCF absorption rate was much higher than other amino acid
products grower has used in the past.
Advantages of PCF
• Boosts plant growth and development
• Provides stable vigor during hot temperature, heavy rain,
and other weather factors.
• Amplifies effect of other agricultural materials (NPK
fertilizers, micro nutrients, etc.)
• Improves commercial value of crops.
Indirect Advantages
• Grapes require a great deal of nutrients during their
growth cycle. Typically after 3~4 years of repeated
cultivation, the soil needs to remain fallow for a season
or soil transplantation is necessary to recover the
original fertility. The natural amino acids contained in
PCF will greatly reduce this requirement by ensuring
adequate replenishment of nutrients to the soil.
• PCF helps stimulate microbial activity in soil to
decompose other organic agriculture materials to
maintain consistent fertility from year to year.
