The United States of America (USA or U.S.A.), commonly referred to
as the United States (US or U.S.), America, or simply the States, is
a federal republic consisting of 50 states, 16 territories, a federal district,
310 Indian reservations and various overseas extraterritorial
jurisdictions. The 48 contiguous states and the federal district
of
Washington,
D.C.
are
in
central
North
America between Canada and Mexico. The state of Alaska is the
northwestern part of North America, west of Canada and east of Russia,
which is across the Bering Strait in Asia, and the state of Hawaii is an
archipelago in the mid-North Pacific. The country also has five
populated and nine unpopulated territories in the Pacific and
the Caribbean.

6. The Rocky Mountains
 The Rocky Mountains, commonly known
as the Rockies, are a major mountain
range in western North America. The Rocky
Mountains stretch more than 3,000 miles
(4,830 km) from the northernmost part
of British Columbia, in western Canada,
to New Mexico, in the southwestern United
States.

9. Mount McKinley
 Mount McKinley is the highest mountain peak
in North America, with a summit elevation of 20,237
feet (6,168 m) above sea level. At some 18,000 feet
(5,500 m), the base to peak rise is considered the
largest of any mountain situated entirely above sea
level. Measured by topographic prominence, it is
the third most prominent peak after Mount
Everest and Aconcagua. Located in the Alaska
Range in the interior of US state of Alaska, it is the
centerpiece of Denali National Park and Preserve.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern
Ireland,

known
as
the
United
Kingdom (UK), Great Britain (GB), or Britain, is
a sovereign state located off the north-western coast
of continental Europe. The country includes the island
of Great Britain, the north-eastern part of the island
of Ireland and many smaller islands. Northern Ireland is the
only part of the UK that shares a land border with another
state: the Republic of Ireland. Apart from this land border,
the UK is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, with the North
Sea in the east, the English Channelin the south and
the Irish Sea in the west.
The UK's form of government is a constitutional monarchy
with a parliamentary system and its capital city is London.
The current British monarch—since 6 February 1952—
is Queen Elizabeth II. The United Kingdom consists of four
countries: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The total area of the United Kingdom is approximately
243,610 square kilometers. The country occupies the
major part of the British Isles archipelago and includes
the island of Great Britain, the north-eastern one-sixth
of the island of Ireland and some smaller surrounding
islands. It lies between the North Atlantic Ocean and
the North Sea with the south-east coast coming within
22 miles (35 km) of the coast of northern France, from
which it is separated by the English Channel.

16. Scafell Pike
 Scafell Pike is the highest mountain in England at
978 metres (3,209 ft). It is located in Lake District
National Park, in Cumbria. It is part of the Southern
Fells.
 Scafell Pike is one of three British peaks climbed as
part of the National Three Peaks Challenge, and is the
highest ground for over 90 miles.
