Abstract
Ambient Technology aims at changing in the way
people lives and easing the interaction of humans
and computers .The achievement of AmI in major
portions depends on the sensors ,devices
interconnected through network and on the
intelligence of decision making software's. AmI
research is maturing, the resulting technologies
promise to revolutionarize daily human life by
making people's surroundings flexible and adaptive.

What is AmI?
• Ambient Intelligence is “a digital environment that
proactively, but sensibly, supports people in their
daily life”.
• Features expected in AmI technologies sensitive,
responsive, adaptive, transparent, ubiquitous and
intelligent.
• The need of 5Ws:
who,where,what,when,why
Relation in between AmI and other areas in Computing Science
Key technologies
• .
Sensing
• AmI is created for real world, effective use of
sensors use of sensors is vital.
• Sensors are the key that link available
computational power with physical applications.
Sensing devices which can be used are:
RFID Technology, RFID tag can be coupled with RFID reader
to monitor movement of tagged objects.
i-button, contain a computer chip in a steel casing with a
real-time clock
Few other sensing devices can be microphones ,video
cameras.
Reasoning
• Interpret and recognize context and
activity.
• To make algorithms responsive, adaptive,
and beneficial to users, a number of types
of reasoning must takes place.
• Modeling
• Activity prediction and recognition.
• Sensors data
• Activity model
• Decision making
Acting
• AmI systems tie reasoning to the real world
through sensing and acting.
• Intelligent and assistive devices .
• Robots
Human-computer interaction

Further Applications
• Health-related applications.
• Education services.
• Production-oriented places.
• Public Surveillance
• Transportation
Stuff common in use
Final words-ongoing challenges
• Need to be aware of user preferences,
intentions and needs.
• Should know when to act.
• Many AmI applications rely on the wireless
sensors i.e. on mercy of battery life.
• There are still many challenges ahead at
levels infrastructure, algorithms, human-
computer interaction.
