Amazon started as an online bookstore but has expanded into many other product areas like media, consumer electronics, and cloud computing. It launched Amazon Web Services in 2006 which offers data storage, computing power, analytics, and other services via web services and has become a large part of their business model. Amazon has transitioned from primarily selling products to also offering various hosting and cloud services to both consumers and other companies.
