2. What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is the ancient art of Chinese
medicine (Traditional Chinese Medicine system)
which has been practiced for more than 3,000
years.
According to Traditional Chinese Medicine
(TCM) system, the healthy body is balanced
with Qi (vital energy) flowing freely throughout
the body in specific channels and nourishing
the organs. If the free flow of Qi or blood is
interrupted, patterns of disharmony occur
leading to illness or pain.
Acupuncture aims to treat not only the
symptoms of disease but also the cause.
Acupuncture activates and optimises
self-healing abilities of body. It
strengthens immunity, supports
physical and emotional health.
It is a safe and effective way to
treat variety of medical conditions.
Acupuncture is recognised by the
World Health Organisation (WHO)
since 1970's.
Benefits of Acupuncture
It's safe and effective
No side effects
No down-time for the recovery (unlike
with the surgery)
Affordable
Much quicker recovery than with the
use of Western Medicine
No chemical drugs used and can be used
on patients who do not respond to pain
medications
What can you expect?
The initial consultation with treatment will last
60 minutes as the detailed case history is taken.
It’s followed by pulse and tongue examination.
Typical appointments are generally scheduled
for 45-60 minutes. Before each treatment Malou
will ask you how you feel. Then she will read
pulses and apply needles and/or moxa.
After treatment you will spend a few minutes
simply relaxing, lying on the treatment table, to
allow the energetic changes to settle in. Dietary
and other lifestyle recommendations will be
discussed at appropriate time.
