This document discusses best practices for designing chatbots for global and localized use. It recommends researching user intent, choosing platforms that support multiple languages and domains, writing prompts in a conversational style, ensuring graphics are culturally appropriate, and testing personalities with real users in different cultures. Localization vendors should have experience with the domain and locales. The chatbot design should allow adding new conversations and languages over time.

With the hype about ChatBots, the rumor has been in overdrive. We all have heard it all: Right from “Build your bot within an hour” to “Chatbots is going to cause an immense job reduction”.
Let's shed some light on the most common myths on ChatBots and Artificial Intelligence.
When the hype around ChatBots started, a lot of myths appeared around this emerging trend. With time some myths vanished, while some are still there. Let's have a look at a few of them.
In this new era of technological advancement, where we just don’t touch screens to command apps but also talk to our devices to make things work. Though that’s very exciting, but these technologies are meaningless if they aren’t humanized to build trust and relation with the consumer. Some of the large innovative companies who have advanced in AI & Robotics have already started thinking like a digital humanist and believing that technology is truly effective only when it allows people to accomplish things they didn’t know they could. Hence designers working on emerging technology should have the ability to apply basic human psychology and design from a place of empathy and humility. This imposes new ways and standards to design human interactions. Here am talking about the new opportunities taking shapes for UX designers to get prepared and address the challenges in humanizing the user experience for the emerging technologies.
An introductory presentation I use with enterprise customers. Differentiates enterprise-class chatbot design aligned to business processes. Introduces the vital role of the Conversation director.
Conversation and Conversational AI are both changing the modern organization. We discuss parallel tracks in transformational conversation (e.g., the "conversational firm"), and commercial intelligent agents, and ask how they can cross-pollinate for better learning, better understanding, and better innovation.

Title: How to Talk About Your Open Source Project So People Get It
Presented at All Things Open 2022
Presented by Emily Omier
Abstract: Do your colleagues seem confused when you talk about your open source project? Are you struggling to get traction for your project and worried that a lack of contributors could threaten the project’s long-term viability? In this talk, Emily Omier will show how maintainers can apply the principles of positioning to open source projects so that they’ll attract more of the right kind of users who will become a lasting part of the community. Maintainers will learn how to describe their project in a way that will make sense to other engineers immediately, how to articulate why anyone should care about their project and how to figure out who their ideal community members are. Emily will also cover what concrete actions to take to tell the world the project exists after clarifying or changing positioning.

Lifelike Computer Characters
Many software agent researchers are content to make agents that are merely “useful,”
Others seek the more ambitious goal of making “complete” agents that are
highly visible in the user interface,
project the illusion of being aware and intentioned,
and are capable of emotions and significant social interaction.
The Persona project (Ball et al. 1997) was formed to prototype possible interfaces to future computer-based assistants, in this case a “conversational, anthropomorphic computer character that will interact with the user to accept task assignments and report results.”

First Steps with Globus Compute Multi-User EndpointsGlobus
In this presentation we will share our experiences around getting started with the Globus Compute multi-user endpoint. Working with the Pharmacology group at the University of Auckland, we have previously written an application using Globus Compute that can offload computationally expensive steps in the researcher's workflows, which they wish to manage from their familiar Windows environments, onto the NeSI (New Zealand eScience Infrastructure) cluster. Some of the challenges we have encountered were that each researcher had to set up and manage their own single-user globus compute endpoint and that the workloads had varying resource requirements (CPUs, memory and wall time) between different runs. We hope that the multi-user endpoint will help to address these challenges and share an update on our progress here.

Graspan: A Big Data System for Big Code AnalysisAftab Hussain
We built a disk-based parallel graph system, Graspan, that uses a novel edge-pair centric computation model to compute dynamic transitive closures on very large program graphs.
We implement context-sensitive pointer/alias and dataflow analyses on Graspan. An evaluation of these analyses on large codebases such as Linux shows that their Graspan implementations scale to millions of lines of code and are much simpler than their original implementations.
These analyses were used to augment the existing checkers; these augmented checkers found 132 new NULL pointer bugs and 1308 unnecessary NULL tests in Linux 4.4.0-rc5, PostgreSQL 8.3.9, and Apache httpd 2.2.18.

Providing Globus Services to Users of JASMIN for Environmental Data AnalysisGlobus
JASMIN is the UK’s high-performance data analysis platform for environmental science, operated by STFC on behalf of the UK Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). In addition to its role in hosting the CEDA Archive (NERC’s long-term repository for climate, atmospheric science & Earth observation data in the UK), JASMIN provides a collaborative platform to a community of around 2,000 scientists in the UK and beyond, providing nearly 400 environmental science projects with working space, compute resources and tools to facilitate their work. High-performance data transfer into and out of JASMIN has always been a key feature, with many scientists bringing model outputs from supercomputers elsewhere in the UK, to analyse against observational or other model data in the CEDA Archive. A growing number of JASMIN users are now realising the benefits of using the Globus service to provide reliable and efficient data movement and other tasks in this and other contexts. Further use cases involve long-distance (intercontinental) transfers to and from JASMIN, and collecting results from a mobile atmospheric radar system, pushing data to JASMIN via a lightweight Globus deployment. We provide details of how Globus fits into our current infrastructure, our experience of the recent migration to GCSv5.4, and of our interest in developing use of the wider ecosystem of Globus services for the benefit of our user community.
