Alcatel-Lucent in GNS3

At last I have done it, i was trying to simulate Alcatel-Lucent Router in GNS3
from last few weeks. It was abit difficult to search everywhere because there
is no perfect tutorial which can be followed. After all lot of experimentation i
was able to implement it. There is a website http://brezular.com/ which helps
me, but here they did not specified how to run alcatel image in qemu. I think
they are using linux for this. First i tried linux, but did not get success. but let it,
now it is done.
Requirements :-
GNS3 1.2 —–> working
Alcatel-Lucent Image (Download TIMOS-SR-12.0.R6-vm.zip )
RAM 1920 MB for Qemu VM
Installation Steps:-
1. Extract the image form zip file.
then virtual disk sros-vm.qcow2 will be exrtacted
2. Now go to GNS3 1.2 —-> preferences —–> Qemu —–> Qemu VM —–>
New
Type the name
Now next screen , In this you have to give the RAM to Alcatel qemu, This
should be 1920 MB, i tried to change this value and it does not work for me, so
you have to make this value 1920 MB.
2. Next step you have to give the path for the .qcow2 file extension. Be sure
this path should be correct otherwise it will not boot.
Then change the adapters to 5 or 6 and type should be i82557b
3. Then go to GNS3 and drag alcatel
then start the alcatel, new black window will opened (Qemu)
4. then go to console of alcatel

Now check card in the system
Card IOM3-XP-B is equipped in slot 1 of chasis but it is not provisioned. Thus
we must to provision it for the slot 1.
5. Now you have to configure the card 1 —-> then card-type —-> then mda 1
—-> mda-type
then go to the port and make it no shutdown
these are the basic steps which need to do every time you will start Alcatel-
lucent router.
If you have to check the config file in alcatel then type command, show bof
So this was the small tutorial to simulate Alcatel-Lucent in GNS3.
