4. About the Alberta Water Council
A multi-stakeholder partnership of 24 industry,
NGO, and government sectors with an interest in
water
Uses consensus decision making
Originally a Minister’s Committee formed in 2004,
in 2007, the Council transitioned to become a
not-for-profit society
Where possible was modeled after CASA

8. Sector Planning for Water CEP
Team supports the seven major water-using sectors as they
voluntarily develop water CEP plans through their various
sector associations.
Supports the WFL goal of improving overall efficiency and
productivity of water use in Alberta by 30% from 2005 levels
by 2015.
9. Non-Point Source Pollution
Provide recommendations on how to better manage the
total non-point source contaminant loading in our
watersheds to achieve Water for Life goals.
10. Riparian Lands Conservation and
Management
Project aims to enhance knowledge and provide
recommendations for effective conservation and
management of riparian lands.
11. WFL Implementation Review
Provides feedback and recommendations to the GoA
and other stakeholders to help advance the
achievement of the WFL strategy’s three goals.
