Alaina Beck wrote a letter to the judges of her senior project about planning the YMCA Fall Classic race to raise money for an organization called Partner with Youth. She encountered obstacles like scheduling meetings with her facilitator around her busy cheerleading and volunteer schedule but overcame them by working evenings and weekends. The race was successful in raising $500. Through the process, Alaina discovered she was more interested in physical therapy as a career than being a non-profit director.

YMCA Friends Asking Friends Event Success Web Seminar
The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties uses a Friends Asking Friends program to raise money online without holding events. In the first year of the program, it raised $12,000 from 126 gifts through volunteer fundraising. The second year added a video component. The program was also used for a capital campaign, hiring a coordinator and generating 8,000 charter members. Special fundraising projects included a teen who raised money for camping and an endowment program to donate in honor or memory of others.

Williams has worked several low-wage jobs, including 4 years at Corner Bakery and 5 years at Panera Bread, but left both jobs as there was no room for advancement. He joined I.C. John Campbell organized a 5K run/walk that raised $12,677 for Cure It For Kids, a non-profit that funds brain tumor research. He chose this senior project to honor a nine-year old girl who died of brain cancer and never got to experience childhood. Through his research on charities, John learned how to identify fraudulent organizations and ensured the money went to a legitimate cause. While the event was stressful to plan, John was glad to donate a large sum to such a worthy cause. However, he realized event planning was too stressful to pursue as a career and would only organize events as a hobby going forward.

Wade Godfrey wrote a letter to the judges of his high school's senior project. He originally planned to become a personal fitness trainer, so he ran a 5K race and wrote a research paper on preventing running injuries. Through his project, he realized he wants to be a social worker to help children in foster care and adoption families based on his own experiences in foster care. He will study sociology and psychology at Reinhardt University to pursue becoming a social worker or working for Georgia's adoption agency.
Senior Project Letter to Judges
Alex Shebly chose to raise funds for Sober Living America, a non-profit that houses recovering addicts, as his senior project. He researched drug and alcohol addiction to better understand the issue. Through his project, he helped Sober Living America collect donations and items for residents while learning that running a non-profit is stressful work. Though the project added stress to his senior year, Alex feels more prepared for college time management after completing it. He has decided a career in non-profit ownership may not be the best fit but wants to continue helping others through volunteer work.
Wade Senior Speech
Wade Godfrey completed a 5K race for his senior project to prove his gym teacher wrong who had said he would never be able to run faster than his 6 minute and 40 second mile time in 6th grade. He trained with his facilitator Joanne Beck, who was the director of the YMCA Fall Classic 5K race. Through overcoming obstacles like breaking his scale and forgetting to log food, Wade completed the 5K race in 22 minutes and 48 seconds. He discovered through this project that he wants to pursue social work instead of personal fitness training. After high school, Wade plans to attend Albany State University to get a master's degree in social work.

He trained with his facilitator Joanne Beck, who created a training schedule and diet plan for him. On October 15, 2011, Wade ran the 5K YMCA Fall Classic in 22 minutes and 48 seconds. Through this project, Wade discovered his strong will to persevere and not give up, though he prefers to pursue social work over personal fitness training. He plans to attend Albany State University to get a master's degree in social work.

Kellie Spann organized a 5K FunRun to raise money for homeless veterans as her senior project. She raised $109.31 that was donated to the Veteran Support Organization. In her letter, she explains that her older brother inspired her project by serving in the army and now working to help veterans. She found in her research that over 250,000 veterans experience homelessness each night in the US. While organizing and fundraising did not appeal to her, she still wants to help people in need. However, she found the senior project excessively stressful due to other life decisions like college applications and soccer commitments.

Recomendações da OMS sobre cuidados maternos e neonatais para uma experiência pós-natal positiva.
Em consonância com os ODS – Objetivos do Desenvolvimento Sustentável e a Estratégia Global para a Saúde das Mulheres, Crianças e Adolescentes, e aplicando uma abordagem baseada nos direitos humanos, os esforços de cuidados pós-natais devem expandir-se para além da cobertura e da simples sobrevivência, de modo a incluir cuidados de qualidade.
Estas diretrizes visam melhorar a qualidade dos cuidados pós-natais essenciais e de rotina prestados às mulheres e aos recém-nascidos, com o objetivo final de melhorar a saúde e o bem-estar materno e neonatal.
Uma “experiência pós-natal positiva” é um resultado importante para todas as mulheres que dão à luz e para os seus recém-nascidos, estabelecendo as bases para a melhoria da saúde e do bem-estar a curto e longo prazo. Uma experiência pós-natal positiva é definida como aquela em que as mulheres, pessoas que gestam, os recém-nascidos, os casais, os pais, os cuidadores e as famílias recebem informação consistente, garantia e apoio de profissionais de saúde motivados; e onde um sistema de saúde flexível e com recursos reconheça as necessidades das mulheres e dos bebês e respeite o seu contexto cultural.
Estas diretrizes consolidadas apresentam algumas recomendações novas e já bem fundamentadas sobre cuidados pós-natais de rotina para mulheres e neonatos que recebem cuidados no pós-parto em unidades de saúde ou na comunidade, independentemente dos recursos disponíveis.
É fornecido um conjunto abrangente de recomendações para cuidados durante o período puerperal, com ênfase nos cuidados essenciais que todas as mulheres e recém-nascidos devem receber, e com a devida atenção à qualidade dos cuidados; isto é, a entrega e a experiência do cuidado recebido. Estas diretrizes atualizam e ampliam as recomendações da OMS de 2014 sobre cuidados pós-natais da mãe e do recém-nascido e complementam as atuais diretrizes da OMS sobre a gestão de complicações pós-natais.
O estabelecimento da amamentação e o manejo das principais intercorrências é contemplada.

- 1. 1550 Owens Store Road Canton, GA 30115 April 15 2012 Judges, Senior Project Creekview High School 1550 Owens Store Road Canton, GA 30115 Dear Judges: Hello, my name is Alaina Beck. I am a Varsity Cheerleader and an active member in the National Honors Society. To be a part of these to programs I had to do a good bit of community service. The cheerleaders raised money for breast cancer and with the National Honors Society you are required to have at least 15 hours of community service. These hours led me to my pick my Senior Project, to help plan the YMCA Fall Classic. The YMCA Fall Classic is a race that raises money for Partner with Youth, which is an organization that, based on income and other circumstances, helps families pay for memberships and send their kids to camp. My research paper was on the history of the YMCA because I felt that if I was going to help raise money for an organization I should know how they began and what they stand for. One of the obstacles I encountered was setting up meeting dates with my facilitator, which I overcame by meeting him on the weekends. Another obstacle was finding time to actually complete my project with my busy schedule, which I conquered by working after my shifts at the Y and sometimes bringing it home. My last obstacle was actually getting up so early on the day of the race, which I just had to get over and do. The race was successful and raised almost $500 to go towards Partner with Youth. The reason I chose this topic was because coming into my senior year I wanted to be a director in a non-profit organization and help raise money for them. During this process I learned that I am a well organized and sometimes it takes some real dedication for me to work on something that I have no interest in. About halfway through the project I discovered that this was not a career field I wanted to get into. I discovered that I wanted to get into physical therapy. I plan to attend North Georgia and receive my Masters in Physical Therapy and Biology. While I would have rather done other things with my time, I do think that the senior project is a good idea. It also does help some seniors save money, like in my case I learned this was nothing I wanted to do with my life so I saved time and money by not having to switch majors.
