WELCOME
• The word "remedial," means "to
rectify, improve or remedy
something."
• Remedial Teaching was first
introduced to Hong Kong
secondary schools in September
1982.
• It is a multifaceted approach,
tailoring remedial intervention
plans to a child’s specific needs.
• It makes use of one-on-one
instruction, small group
instruction, written work, verbal
work and computer-based work.
• The teacher should understand
the individual differences of the
students to draw the best out of
them.
• Remedial teaching is intended
for the learners who fall behind
the rest of the class.
OBJECTIVES
• To provide learning experience
in order to enrich the potential
of the students.
• To develop various skills of
learners.
• To give them confidence in
areas of difficulty.
STRATEGIES
• Individualized Educational
Programme (IEP)
• Peer Support Programme
• Reward Scheme
• Handling pupils’ behaviour
problems
Learning Environment
• The teaching environment should
be designed to support remedial
teaching and group activities.
• Seat arrangements of pupils should
be flexible to meet the specific
teaching purposes of each learning
activity.
• Teachers may display the teaching
materials of the week or the learning
outcomes or products of pupils at
prominent places to stimulate their
motivation in learning.
• Teachers should prepare a rich,
pleasant and comfortable learning
environment for pupils.
