4. Namibia
At 2 million habitants across 800,000+ km2 crea9ng a density of 2.5 people per km2, Namibia
is one of the most sparsely populated countries in the world, but also one the most
prosperous in the region. Namibia has excellent infrastructure that provides plenty of
opportunity for growth and two expand public universi9es with AIESEC LCs in each of them.
Namibia was colonised by Germany and aVer the WW1 by South Africa who refused to leave
aVer UN mandate to govern the territory expired. The end of South African Apartheid-rule
meant Namibia became independent in 1990. Since then the former rebel group SWAPO has
won successive elec9ons and provided the heads of state.
Namibia enjoys poli9cal stability, democracy and press freedom. Windhoek the capital accommodates some
300.000 inhabitants and has all the conveniences of modern life. Due to its German connec9ons and developed
infrastructure and buildings, the capital rela9vely looks Western compared to other African capitals. Namibian
youths are very eager to develop their country and get ahead in life as the genera9on now gradua9ng from
universi9es is the first experience fully equal rights and access to educa9on and jobs.
Namibia might have some of the most beau9ful places you can visit due to its breath-taking sceneries and diversity
in landscapes. Windhoek is built at 1700 km above sea level on the Thomas Hochland, which means it is
surrounded by beau9ful mountain ranges. The Western coast is characterised by the Namib Desert, the oldest,
stretching out from Botswana. The North is coloured green by its rivers and bordering Angola, Zambia and the
Okavango Delta in Botswana it is the most densely populated area in the country

5. AIESEC in Namibia
AIESEC in Namibia started back in July 2013 and has now entered its fourth
opera9onal term in its history. You as part of the MC will be leading the fiVh genera9on
of AIESEC here in Namibia. We are currently all a Contracted Unit with AIESEC in
Germany who supported the expansion financially as well as with HR and coaching
support in the first year and Second year.
MC term of AIESEC in Namibia starts on 1st August and ends on 31st July. LCEB Term
starts on 1st February and end on 31st January. Currently AIESEC in Namibia consist of
3 Local Committees called UNAM, NUST & IUM all located in Windhoek the capital of
Namibia. They have all campuses outside the capital where potential expansion can
happen. All together we have currently about 30 Members. Most of the operative work
is all done by the MC with emphasis on member education
AIESEC´s relevance in Namibia is huge due to lack of funds to students Universities
most students that cannot afford it. Companies complain about the skills students
have once they get out of University. Level of education throughout the country is
struggling and only very few take it upon themselves to attend University.

6. Working & living conditions
AIESEC in Namibia currently rents a flat located in 10 minutes walk from the NUST LC and a 15 minutes
walk form the IUM LC in a secure court. It is located just next to a 24/7 open gas sta9on and is a 20 min
walk from the centre of the city. The flat has two bed rooms, 1 bath room with shower and bath and an
open kitchen with working space which serves as the MC Office. The MC House is used on a daily basis by
AIESEC Members from each LC.
Salaries: MC members are full-9me volunteers and as such do not receive salaries. However, MC members
are en9tled to a Monthly S9pend of N$2,500 (approx. 177 USD).
It is vital for any applicant to understand the limited financial capacity of AIESEC in Namibia. While we are
growing and becoming more sustainable, there is a long way to go before MC spends can be guaranteed,
especially when expanding the MC team to hold more positions. The current team is doing all they can to
secure a better financial situation for the next term
