In honor of World AIDS Day 2013 and to ensure we always remember those no longer with us, CDC NPIN is proud to host 15 sections of the Names Project AIDS Memorial Quilts. Each panel underscores commitment and effort to end this pandemic.

The purpose of this activity is to enable the learner to explain particular communication challenges that occur when interacting with the dementia patients. This program discusses functional strategies to use during skilled intervention and provides best practices for intervention in order to support the individual.
Content will cover
1. Understanding diagnosis, stages, medication treatment and nursing management.
2. Understanding behavioral and psychological symptoms presented with dementia.
3. Leaning non-verbal signs of communication, techniques to communicate with the person living with dementia.
4. Learn to decrease risk for aggression, best practices on approach, communication techniques for the dementia client.
