African Lions African lions live all over the middle of Africa. Males and females can be told apart by their hair – only the males have manes (hair around their head) These lions travel in groups called  prides. QUIT Click to watch a video about lions!
Lowland Gorillas Lowland gorillas live in the middle of Africa on the Atlantic Ocean. They grow to be about the size of an adult human, between 4 and 6 feet. Gorillas are  omnivores , so they eat both plants and animals. QUIT
African Elephants African elephants can be found in the entire lower part of Africa. They are the biggest animals on earth! They are  endangered  because hunters like to sell the elephants’ ivory tusks (the long teeth-like objects) for lots of money. Click here to watch a video on how people are working to save elephants. Zebras Zebras are found in parts of eastern Africa. Their striped coats are thought to be used as  camouflage , to hide themselves from predators. Zebras can live to be about 25 years old. QUIT
Giraffes Giraffes can be found in the grasslands of Africa. They are the tallest animal, sometimes up to 19 feet tall! (over 3x taller than the average human male) They have blue tongues. QUIT    Click here to learn more about these tall animals.
Conclusion These African animals are all very special to their communities, and it is important that they are protected so that they can keep living in their home for a very long time. QUIT
