The Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) is a laser-guided 70mm rocket system designed by BAE Systems in collaboration with the US Government. It transforms unguided rockets into precision-guided munitions using a distributed aperture semi-active laser seeker for guidance. The US has deployed APKWS and sold them to allies like Jordan. Development began in 2002, was cancelled, but resumed as APKWS II. BAE Systems received contracts for production and support from the US Navy, and the system has been successfully test fired from helicopters and aircraft.
