This document describes a study that used ArcGIS and R software to automatically analyze catchments based on digital elevation models. The study area was the Vasas-Belvárd catchment in Hungary. Methods included using TauDEM tools in ArcGIS to extract watersheds and stream networks from a DEM and attribute tables. R was integrated to perform statistical analyses. It allows for multi-user access and sharing of data between organizations. ERRA uses open standards and can integrate data from various sources through its metadata catalogue. It provides functions for mapping compositions, querying map layers, and embedding maps. A mobile app is also being considered for data collection purposes.

Water quality mapping for solapur district using gis
The document outlines a GIS project to map water quality in Solapur District, India. CARARE (http://www.carare.eu) was an EU project which ran from 2010 to 2013. The project focussed on bringing records of archaeological monuments, historic landscapes and buildings to Europeana (http://www.europeana.eu). A metadata schema was developed as an intermediary between the native metadata schemes used by CARARE partners across Europe and the Europeana Data Model. The CARARE schema is based on work that was carried out by the Council for Europe and the CIDOC archaeological sites group developing core metadata standards for historic buildings and archaeological sites, the MIDAS standard developed by English Heritage extended to capture the information about digital resources needed for Europeana. The schema was mapped to the Europeana Data Model by the authors to enable data to be provided by the CARARE project to Europeana in EDM format. This presentation describes some of the issues encountered and the lessons learned on the way. A new version (2.0) of the CARARE metadata schema was developed as part of the 3D ICONS project (http://www.3Dicons-project.eu), both to take on board the lessons learned through CARARE and to incoporate elements from the CIDOC-CRM Dig extension needed for 3D content. The CARARE schema has now been adopted by the LoCloud project (http://www.locloud.eu) and the mapping to EDM continues to be maintained and developed.
TGS East Siberia Russia- Field and Structures Atlas
This document introduces an atlas describing oil and gas fields, discoveries, and prospects in East Siberia, Russia. It summarizes that hydrocarbon reserves in the region as of 2009 included over 1.3 trillion cubic meters of natural gas and over 400 million barrels of oil. This document discusses using GIS and remote sensing tools to assess small hydropower potential in a systematic way. It describes how digital elevation models and satellite imagery can be used to map water resources and estimate energy potential from small hydro sites. GIS allows for integration of spatial data layers and rapid evaluation of sites over large areas. Case studies demonstrate how these tools were applied to identify suitable locations for small hydro projects in India and evaluate their technical and economic feasibility in a sustainable manner.
Creating a Hydrological Network for the Yukon Territory
The Fisheries Information Summary System (FISS) is a Federal and Provincial geo-database that provides summary level, fish and fish habitat information for waterbodies throughout the province of British Columbia. Information is georeferenced using online digitizing tools and is linked to the BC 1:50,000 watershed atlas using a hierarchical watershed coding system. Using FME, a similar watershed atlas was created for the entire Yukon Territory at a fraction of the cost and time using the Horton Order transformer and other tools. The resulting intelligent hydrolgical network is now available for the Yukon through the Community Mapping Network at www.cmnbc.ca. We will describe some of the challenges encountered in the creation of the hydrological network and provide and overview of the new Yukon FISS system.

The National Park Service conducted a visual resources inventory in Gates of the Arctic National Preserve to assess the potential impacts of a proposed road. NPS staff selected key observation points near the proposed road route and photographed the landscapes. They then rated the scenic quality and assigned importance values to each point. Additional analysis was done using GIS to identify which areas would be visible from the road and to compare the impacts of alternative routes. The data and photos from the inventory are available online through the NPS database.

It describes how digital elevation models and satellite imagery can be used to map water resources and estimate energy potential from small hydro sites. GIS allows for integration of spatial data layers and rapid evaluation of sites over large areas. Case studies demonstrate how these tools were applied to identify suitable locations for small hydro projects in India and evaluate their technical and economic feasibility in a sustainable manner.
Creating a Hydrological Network for the Yukon Territory
The Fisheries Information Summary System (FISS) is a Federal and Provincial geo-database that provides summary level, fish and fish habitat information for waterbodies throughout the province of British Columbia. Information is georeferenced using online digitizing tools and is linked to the BC 1:50,000 watershed atlas using a hierarchical watershed coding system. Using FME, a similar watershed atlas was created for the entire Yukon Territory at a fraction of the cost and time using the Horton Order transformer and other tools. The resulting intelligent hydrolgical network is now available for the Yukon through the Community Mapping Network at www.cmnbc.ca. We will describe some of the challenges encountered in the creation of the hydrological network and provide and overview of the new Yukon FISS system.

The National Park Service conducted a visual resources inventory in Gates of the Arctic National Preserve to assess the potential impacts of a proposed road. NPS staff selected key observation points near the proposed road route and photographed the landscapes. They then rated the scenic quality and assigned importance values to each point. Additional analysis was done using GIS to identify which areas would be visible from the road and to compare the impacts of alternative routes. The data and photos from the inventory are available online through the NPS database.
