Administrative Intern
Department: HR / Marketing / Sales / Parts / Service / Integrated Solutions
Reports to: Human Resources Manager (Debra L. Horan)
Purpose:
Supports operations for Cazenovia Equipment byworking with andassistingHumanResources Manager, MarketingManager, as well as
Parts, Sales, Service & Energypersonnel. Works to better understand a JohnDeere dealershipbusiness and the companyculture.
Performance Expectations:
Human Resources:
o Assists withdata entryof trainingrecords and performance appraisal documents
o Assists withdevelopinga newEmployee Handbook
o Assists withdevelopingupdatedsafetytraining
o Learns the process for hiring, disciplining, and terminating employees (Legal requirements & Companyrequirements)
o Learns the benefits available and enrollment processfor all employees
o Learns the performance review process
o Attend recruiting events or other specialfunctions
Marketing:
o Supports Marketing Manager with communications andactivitiesfor sales events (Drive Green, other)
o Assists with designing media andadvertising graphic arts (brochures, website, etc.)
o Distributes promotionalmaterials for the dealership(i.e. banners, trinkets, pamphlets, brandapparel etc.)
o Updates customer data to ensure accurate records such as addressesfor mailinglists
o Learns how to develop and communication tactical marketing strategies (advertising, promotions, incentives, events, etc.)
o Learns how to attract and retaincustomers through targetedefforts using budgeting controls
o Learns how to promote companyproducts andservicesvia television, radio, website, newspaper, internet, etc.
o Learn processfor advertising equipment for sale or goingto auction
Sales, Service, Parts, Energy & Integrated Solutions Departments:
o Shadow salesrepresentatives in-house andinthe field (Ag & Golf/Turf Representative)
o Learns to provide pricing, complete the paperworkto close a sale, understandordering process
o Ride withroadService Technicians to determine processfor fieldrepairs andtracking
o Learns Parts Department scanning, placement, andinventorysystems
o Learns the process of receivingand receiptingparts intoinventory
o Learns EnergypermittingprocessandshadowEnergyTechnicians in the field
o Works with Service Administrators to understand warrantyprocessand transportationsystems
o Learns AMS Sales process
Experience, Education, Skills, and Knowledge:
o Associates’ degree inAgriculture, Business or Marketingor equivalent experience required
o Experience ingraphic design helpful
o Abilityto manage projects which would include multi-taskingandprioritizing
o Good analytical, business planning, problem solving, communication, motivational andinter-personal skills
o Familiar withthe Ag equipment industry, JohnDeere and competitive products
o General knowledge ofoffice procedures and practices
o Abilityto use standard desktop loadapplications suchas email, Microsoft Office and internet functions
o Exhibits a willingnessto accept additional assignments
o Exhibits necessaryskills to effectivelymanage a fast pacedenvironment
o Ensures safetycompliance in all departments
o Abilityto travel for trainingas needed
