2. ORIGIN
GHANSHYAMDAS BIRLA:
• He took over the company in the beginning of
20th century.
• Just 10 days after independence, the group’s
flagship company Grasim Industries Ltd was
incorporated.
• GD Birla established businesses in critical
sectors such as textile and fibre, aluminium,
cement and chemicals .
SETH SHIV NARAYAN BIRLA: He laid the foundation of Birla House by
entering into cotton and jute in 1857.

3. ADITYA VIKRAM BIRLA
• In the mid-1960s, Aditya Vikram Birla joined his
father, B. K. Birla, in that branch of the family
business, which by then consisted of Grasim,
Hindalco, and Indian Rayon.
• The man who integrated the Indian economy
with the world economy.
• Created India’s first MNC
• He started on his own in Textiles industry.
• He focused on east-Asian countries and set up
Indo-Thai synthetics Co.Ltd.

4. KUMAR MANGALAM BIRLA
• He took over as chairman of the Aditya
Birla Group in 1995, following the
death of his father Aditya Vikram Birla.
• Annual turnover: US$3.33 Billion in
1995 to US$41 billion in 2015.
• He has made 36 acquisitions in 20
years in India and globally.
