2. COVER Masthead – The title of the magazine.
It’s the biggest writing on the cover.
The logo is originally red.
Main sell line – Is bigger than other
sell lines because it’s the most
important. It shows the main story of
the magazine that often that relates
to the cover star.
Sell lines – The sell lines tell people
about the good features that can be
found in the magazine and why it’s
worth buying. They are meant to
encourage people to purchase the
magazine. They are white and red so
they go with the masthead and the
main sell line.
Barcode – This allows the shop to sell the
magazine. It’s placed in a corner and it’s
not big, because it’s the less important
thing on the cover and has nothing to do
with the theme. So it is not meant to grab
people’s attention.
Slogan – Is placed under the logo
of the magazine. It simply says
what the initials of NME stand for.
Main cover image – On the image we can
see a music artist called Joe Strummer.
The picture is a medium shot of him, and
It’s black and white. This was done to make
the background contrast with the red
writing on the cover. The picture wasn’t
taken in a studio, but a different place with
a suitable background. The man is in focus
and the background is blurred. This means
that he is a priority.

Contents – The most interesting
features that can be found in the
magazine are spaced out on the
contents page, with matching
images, page numbers next to them
and a cut out quote from that certain
article.
Contents – The rest of the contents
of the magazine are written with a
smaller writing, underneath a
“Plus” heading. This means that
those contents are less important.
Heading – Is bold and has the issue
date underneeth.
The layout – There are various fonts on
the contents page. Some of them are
big and some of them are small,
depending how important the text is.
There are also pictures of different
sizes, the bigger the more important
the article.
Advert – They are offering a deal for NME
in the bottom right corner. It is brighter
than the rest of the contents on the page
to make it stand out and drawn the
readers eyes to it. The writing on it is
white and bold so it idally contrasts with
the red background.
4. DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD
The girl isn’t looking very
stylish, she has a more of a
rebellious look. This also links
with the tatoo on her wrist.
The title looks like
clippings form a
newspapers letters. This
might be associated with
criminals and it gaves
the article a rebelious
look.
The drop capital at the
start of the article is very
bold and stands out from
the rest. This attracts the
readers eye, and
encourages him to read
the article
The main three colours
on this dobule page
spread are white, black
and red. These colours
seem to work together
very well.
