We are forgiven by God through Christ, therefore we ought to forgive others even as God has forgiven us. This is the heart of the Gospel. Growth in the spiritual life is often hindered because we often refuse to forgive others.
The Lord's Prayer was not taught to be repeated without thought as to what it means. It given by our Lord to teach us a model for prayer. In this presentation we will look at the components that make up a the way we ought to pray.
Are we trying to impress the world? Are we trying to impress others? Who are we trying to impress? Ultimately we can impress no one, not even God. But rewards are with God, not because we can impress him, but because he honors those that love him.
John 1:1 claims that all life is in Christ. He is the creator of life and he sustains all life. He is the author of physical life and spiritual life. Without him there is no life.
We call it the triumphal entry. Compared with the entry of other kings and generals it was modest. Compared to his future entry into Jerusalem all the kings entries of the past seem insignificant.

The founding fathers of our nation trusted in something greater than the Declaration of Independence. They trusted in the Bible and the God of the Bible. Our present leaders would do well to put their trust in the same God and the same Bible.
The greatest book of liberty is not a document or a declaration. The greatest book of liberty is the Bible. The bible presents the Gospel, the good news that sets me free.

The Book of Joshua is the sixth book in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament, and is the first book of the Deuteronomistic history, the story of Israel from the conquest of Canaan to the Babylonian exile.
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

4. We saw it last week in Cain’s linage in Gen. 4
This week we will look at Seth’s descendants
in Gen. 5.
5. Some of the names are the same, but they are
different people: Enoch, Lamech
There are three women named in Cain’s list
Seven generations in Cain’s and 10 in Seth’s
The ages of the people are given on in Seth’s
linage.
In both it is said for each person they had other
sons and daughters.
6. Genesis 5:1–2 (NIV)1 This is the written account of
Adam’s line. When God created man, he made
him in the likeness of God. 2 He created them
male and female and blessed them. And when
they were created, he called them “man.”
7. Genesis 5:3–5 (NIV) 3 When Adam had lived 130
years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his
own image; and he named him Seth. 4 After
Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had
other sons and daughters. 5 Altogether, Adam
lived 930 years, and then he died.
Why did they live so long before the flood?
Physical differences in the earth
God may have intentionally changed life expectances due to
sin.
Substitute
8. Genesis 5:6–8 6 When Seth had lived 105 years, he
became the father of Enosh. 7 And after he
became the father of Enosh, Seth lived 807
years and had other sons and daughters. 8
Altogether, Seth lived 912 years, and then he
died.
Frail, mortal
9. Genesis 5:9–11 9 When Enosh had lived 90 years,
he became the father of Kenan. 10 And after he
became the father of Kenan, Enosh lived 815
years and had other sons and daughters. 11
Altogether, Enosh lived 905 years, and then he
died.
10. Genesis 5:12–14 12 When Kenan had lived 70
years, he became the father of Mahalalel. 13
And after he became the father of Mahalalel,
Kenan lived 840 years and had other sons and
daughters. 14 Altogether, Kenan lived 910
years, and then he died.
Praise of
God
11. Genesis 5:15–17 15 When Mahalalel had lived 65
years, he became the father of Jared. 16 And
after he became the father of Jared, Mahalalel
lived 830 years and had other sons and
daughters. 17 Altogether, Mahalalel lived 895
years, and then he died.
12. Genesis 5:18–20 18 When Jared had lived 162
years, he became the father of Enoch. 19 And
after he became the father of Enoch, Jared lived
800 years and had other sons and daughters. 20
Altogether, Jared lived 962 years, and then he
died.
13. Genesis 5:21–24 21 When
Enoch had lived 65 years,
he became the father of
Methuselah. 22 And after he
became the father of
Methuselah, Enoch walked
with God 300 years and
had other sons and
daughters. 23 Altogether,
Enoch lived 365 years. 24
Enoch walked with God;
then he was no more,
because God took him
away.
Hebrews 11:5 By faith
Enoch was taken up so that he did
not see death, and he was not to
be found because God took him
up. For before his removal he had
been commended as having
pleased God.
14. Genesis 5:25–27 25 When Methuselah had lived
187 years, he became the father of Lamech. 26
And after he became the father of Lamech,
Methuselah lived 782 years and had other sons
and daughters. 27 Altogether, Methuselah lived
969 years, and then he died.
He died on the 11th of Cheshvan
of the year 1656 (Anno Mundi,
after Creation), 7 days before the
beginning of the great Flood.[1]
According to Rashi on Gen. 7:4 ,
The Holy One delayed the Flood
specially because of the 7 days of
mourning for the righteous
Methuselah in his honour.
15. Genesis 5:28–31 28 When Lamech had lived 182
years, he had a son. 29 He named him Noah
and said, “He will comfort us in the labor and
painful toil of our hands caused by the ground
the Lord has cursed.” 30 After Noah was born,
Lamech lived 595 years and had other sons and
daughters. 31 Altogether, Lamech lived 777
years, and then he died.
Noah’s name probably means “rest” or “bring
relief”
16. Genesis 5:32 32 After Noah was 500 years old, he
became the father of Shem, Ham and Japheth.
17. All of Cain’s descendants were bad and would
be killed in the flood.
Each descendant from Seth had many sons and
daughters, but only the single line leading to
Noah is mentioned and presumed righteous.
Enoch was taken up to God before the flood.
It is said in the New Testament that the
conditions before the Great Tribulation will be
similar to the conditions prior to the flood.
The family members of Noah were spared
because of Noah.
18. Matthew 24:38–39
38 For in the days before the flood,
people were eating and drinking,
marrying and giving in marriage,
up to the day Noah entered the ark;
39 and they knew nothing about
what would happen until the flood
came and took them all away. That
is how it will be at the coming of the
Son of Man.
19. Luke 17:26–27 (NIV)
26 “Just as it was in the days of Noah,
so also will it be in the days of the
Son of Man. 27 People were eating,
drinking, marrying and being given
in marriage up to the day Noah
entered the ark. Then the flood came
and destroyed them all.
