• Itisin Athens(Greece).
• Itisin a hill 156m above the sea level.
• The are strong walls surrounding the
monument.
• Some of the most important
monuments in the Acropolis are: the
Parthenon, the temple of Athena Niké,
the Propylaea (entrance) and the
Erechteion.
• It was used for a religious and a
defensive purpose.
• The Acropolisis also known as Cecropia
because of the first athenian King.

In the Mycenaean era, all the history begins.
I was built in the 5th century BC.
Pericles and the arquitect Phidias were very important in its
construction.
It is dedicated to Athena, its patron.
It was built on the ruins that were left after the Persian’s
wars.
There were many transformations after its construction.
Some of the monuments were damaged in 1687.

• The temple of Athenea Polias was built with Doric limestone.
• People used Pentelic marble to build the Erechteion.
• They used limestone to build the oldest Parthenon.
• Phidias worked in the statue of Athenea Promachos.
• The last great addition was a Temple of Rome and Augustus.
