When you see Pitigliano, it's like turning the pages of a book of fairy tales set in the Middle Ages.
The town is built on a promontory surrounded by bright green valleys, proud of its heritage: the Prehistoric period, with its tombs discovered along the city wall and in the surrounding area; the Roman period that left behind the town's name, Gens Petilia; the Medieval period of the Aldobrandeschi, lords for almost five hundred years; the Renaissance grandeur brought by the noble Roman family, the Orsini; and, after a brief Sienese interlude, the Medici and their heirs, the Lorraine who stimulated a phase of modernization.
The town is surrounded by important archaeological sites, ancient caves and primitive villages. The wine production is another good reason to visit this land. The vineyards produce prestigious white DOC wines. The olive oil as well, produced by cold pressing, has few rivals on the national and international scene.
Pitigliano is located in Grosseto province, Southern Tuscany, and is also ideally located for visiting surrounding cities and sites like Firenze, Siena, Roma, the Bolsena lake, the Amiata Mountain and the Tyrrhenian coast. Another beautiful village around Pitigliano is Sovana, but also Sorano and Saturnia with their thermae.

The class 2^A discussed the topic of nutrition in relation to EXPO 2015. The document provides information on the importance of breakfast, highlighting that it is the most important meal of the day. It notes that breakfast provides fuel to start the day after fasting overnight. The document also discusses the benefits of eating breakfast and recommends including fruits, grains, proteins and dairy in breakfast. It suggests milk and 100% fruit juice as the best drinks and warns against skipping breakfast or relying too heavily on junk food.
An English breakfast traditionally includes items like sausages, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, baked beans, mushrooms, and fried or roasted potatoes. It may also include dishes like black pudding, prunes, buttered toast with marmalade, tea, and orange juice. The full English breakfast provides energy to face a long day since workplaces and schools are far from home in Britain. Though most people now have a quick breakfast during the week, the traditional English breakfast consisting of various meat, vegetable, starch, and drink components is often enjoyed on weekends when there is more time to prepare it.
Thomas Edison was an American inventor born in 1847 in Ohio. He showed an early curiosity and interest in science, but struggled in traditional school. His mother allowed him to set up a home laboratory to nurture his interests. After many experiments, in 1879 Edison invented the incandescent light bulb using a carbonized cotton filament that lasted for over two days, revolutionizing lighting. Throughout his life he patented over 1,000 inventions, but the light bulb had the biggest impact and remains one of his most famous inventions, changing how people lived and worked.
Newton proposed the corpuscular theory of light to explain the properties of light observed at that time. He believed that light consisted of tiny particles called corpuscles that traveled in straight lines and at high speeds. According to Newton's theory, corpuscles of different colors had different sizes, which explained why prisms separated white light into a spectrum of colors. Newton's particle theory dominated optics in the 18th century despite not being entirely accurate.
1. VISITA AL PALAZZO DELL’ ACQUEDOTTO PUGLIESE:
MERAVIGLIA DEL PATRIMONIO ARCHITETTONICO E ARTISTICO DI BARI
CLASSI 1° F – 1°G – 1°H
ISTITUTO COMPRENSIVO «MASSARI-GALILEI» BARI
9 MARZO 2013
2. BREVE STORIA DELL’ACQUEDOTTO PUGLIESE

diretto riferimento all’acquedotto e al sistema
dei suoi ponti e canali.
passato erano
utilizzate nelle
cisterne come
indicatori della
purezza dell’acqua.
18. La Sala del Consiglio di Amministrazione,
stupisce per l’elevato
livello artistico
che evidenzia.
Le pareti sono
decorate da tele
dipinte a tempera
e rappresentano
dei cavalli simbolo
di purezza.
Al centro è presente un
tavolo imponente
decorato con un
intarsio che rappresenta
l’acqua lungo il suo
percorso dalla sorgente
ai centri serviti
