Preparing young people for transition into employment/independent learning The ‘A.C.H.I.E.V.E.’ programme is designed to meet the objectives laid down in ‘ Every Child Matters’ and focuses on ‘every child has the right to enjoy and achieve, make a positive contribution to society and achieve economic well-being’. So whether still at school, on a 14-19 Diploma scheme, seeking work placements, work experience opportunities, going to college or university, wanting to get work at the weekends or during the holiday period or choosing to leave education to gain employment, the ‘A.C.H.I.E.V.E.’ programme will equip young people with: A professional impacting CV/An attention grabbing Personal Statement. Job hunting skills/An informed choice of colleges or universities to apply to. The skills and tools to be able to complete applications. How to be confident at interviews. What expectations an employer has.

3. Overall aim of workshop To equip young people with the tools and skills to be able to produce a professional impacting CV or Personal Statement. Have realistic expectations of colleges, universities and career paths. Obtain job hunting skills. Be able to complete applications for college, university, work placements and jobs. Be interview competent. Have an insight into alternative progression routes. Know what an employer expects of you when on a work placement or in a job. Gain the power of positive thinking and get introduced to local employers.

6. When does it run? This programme can be run throughout a school term or in the holiday periods. It can be tailored to fit individual school timetables. It is an ideal programme to run as an external schools activity as Inspired Youths part of the Firebird Training Limited group of companies is a KCC External Provider for Extended Services.

7. Target audience Students from year 10 upwards still at school. Students on 14-19 Diploma schemes. Young people seeking work placements or work experience opportunities. Students continuing on to 6 th Form college, college or university. Young people wanting to get work at the weekends or during the holiday period whilst still at school, college or university. Young people choosing to leave education to gain employment. N.E.E.T. young people.
