The Changing Technology Market - Presentation to Queensland Treasury and TradeAaron Thomas
A presentation to Technology staff in the Queensland Treasury and Trade I conducted discussing the opportunity within the Queensland market place. This presentation was aimed to highlight the options available to those staff within the Queensland Government whose roles will potentially change with the implementation of the new QLD Government ICT Strategy. Discussion topics included how to upskill and change your mindset, embracing the SME market and new technologies, as well as roles that are either in decline or are changing and how to ensure your skills stay relevant in the evolving market
Session Title: The Challenges and Goals of Continuous Delivery
Abstract: Software delivery is a top priority for organizations that own software, yet it remains one of the most challenging problems enterprises face today. Continuous delivery(CD) enables software changes of all types to reach production environments in a safe, quick, and sustainable way. Join this session to learn about the state of CD today and how organizations are making deployments predictable and routine such that developers can better spend their time on services in the cloud.
Bio: Tiffany Jachja is a technical evangelist at Harness. She is an advocate for better software delivery, sharing applicable practices, stories, and content around modern technologies. Before joining Harness, Tiffany was a consultant with Red Hat's Consulting practice. There she used her experience to help customers build their software applications living in the cloud.

Data Con LA 2022 - Practical Solutions to Complex Supply Chain ProblemsData Con LA
Raz Nistor, Sr. Director, Keyrus US
The Manufacturing and Consumer Packaged Goods industries are still facing unprecedented negative pressures on their operating profits from ongoing supply chain disruptions. Many of these organizations have turned to AI to solve all their problems. Surprisingly (/sarcasm), many of these same organizations have failed to realize and sustain ROI from their investments in AI. In this discussion, we will review a few solutions to supply chain initiatives we've rolled out and highlight the keys to success that we've identified to help organizations sustain value from applications in AI. In particular, we will discuss end-to-end technical solutions in demand forecasting, machine learning for lead-time optimization, and full network optimization, as well as the governance and organizational structures we have to consider to make sure the value from these solutions scales throughout the organization.
IT leaders have talked for years about routing traffic directly to the internet from the branch, but network complexity and security challenges have been too great. Times have changed, and today digital transformation is pushing organizations to rapidly evolve branch office IT and security architectures to take advantage of cloud services.
Join a conversation with Zeus Kerravala, Founder and Principal Analyst, ZK Research, and Bill Lapp, Vice President of Customer Success, Zscaler, to discuss the challenges of cloud migration, along with the opportunities it presents. We’ll explore the best ways to address complexity and security in the branch, and discuss a strategic approach to providing a scalable architecture for the adoption of SaaS and cloud services
TIC-TOC: VPN Is Dead; Are you Monetizing Its Replacement?SaraPia5
Dominique Singer will be hosted AppGate's RVP of Sales, Ken Harris, and National Channel Director, Tamara Prazak, where they discussed how there’s never been greater demand from your clients to secure work from home and remote access. Don’t miss this window of opportunity to help your clients replace their outdated VPNs with Software-Defined Perimeter (SDP) from the industry leading solution- AppGate SDP. Get more client meetings by using this as a wedge.

How Successful Crowdsourcing Depends on asking 'Interesting Questions'Crowdsourcing Week
Writing Interesting Questions is as much art as as science. Here are some 100%Open has written recently. How can we double the fun of the LEGO play experience? How can I wash my home, myself, or my clothes with a single cup of water? (Unilever) How can we enable all Detroiters to travel more easily, safely and reliably? (Ford) How can we empower investors and their advisers to consider the CO2 impact of their investment decisions? (UBS) How can we help people do good by using their mobile phone in 3 minutes or less? (EE) Our Interesting Question methodology (https://www.100open.com/toolkit_2/interesting-question/) ensure that questions are accessible, contagious and as inspiring to the Challenge Holder organisation as they are to the Innovator target group.
Contestant Centered Design: creative approaches to designing competitionsCrowdsourcing Week
Creativity is critical to solving complex problems, developing new strategies, facilitating innovation, and driving organizational change. NIST’s Public Safety Communications Research Division’s open innovation efforts focuses on advancing wireless communications for America’s first responders by leveraging expertise and innovative solutions through crowdsourcing and collaboration. Success relies on creating competitions that achieve NIST’s organizational goals, incentivize world class science, remove barriers to entry, and maximize participation. Not an easy equation to balance. This session will discuss how design tradeoffs are considered for a variety of competition elements as concepts develop into a competition and as competitions are implemented. The goal of this interactive session is to provide a behind-the-scenes view of our process, engage audience ideas, and dive into a discussion about crowdsourcing and contestant-centered design.
Ethan will talk about the opportunity to reward crowdsourcing participants through crypto assets/tokens that allows the possibility of performing many micro transactions, saving costs for both the business and the users. In addition, the topic of transparency coming from the blockchain sector where business are now becoming more open to have the public help with tough R&D questions that in the past would have been kept internal. The blockchain industry is in fact growing communities as their branding strategy from the start, and rely on transparency for their community to trust them. All in all, we are seeing the tools in the making to ignite crowdsourcing’s future potential within decentralized business models. Lastly, we will dive into current use case studies from crowdholding.com, on creating a crowd rewarding mechanism for both crowd intelligence and crowd marketing.

Developing a new product is a PAIN IN THE ASS.
Product development is laborious, complicated, and expensive, so much so that even big tech companies and experienced developers struggle to estimate the time and cost required for a successful launch.
Unexpected challenges can tax your resources and cripple your time to market. And guess what?
They are practically guaranteed to occur.
Problem statement is not clearly defined, so results are equally vague
Execution upon ideas does not always happen. Companies run ideation to amass tons of ideas, and then the suggestion box is put away because a fire came up in existing products
Wrong expectations in that ideation will guarantee a new business / product idea
Overtaxed resources = subpar product design & engineering
Inadequate expertise = subpar product design & engineering
Combine the two, and you’re in trouble.
Allocation of resources – mid project movement results in development gaps that, if not carefully annotated, become lost during process
Make it work and make it beautiful at the same time vs separate flows?
If nothing else, this is your takeaway for the day. Hardware is only hard if you underestimate the process. And make no mistake, with the wrong people scoping your project, hardware development becomes an absolute nightmare to deal with at each step of the development lifecycle. With the right teams and the right level of preparation across the right ecosystem, hardware can be a successful venture.
