3. Academic Stress
 Academic stress is the mental stress or frustration due to some academic failure .
 Academic stress can be a ultimate career stopper
 In a survey of the 97,357 college students, 32 percent reported that academic stress had resulted in either
lower grade or a dropped course.

4. Factors of academic stress
 Strong parental pressure about marks and making career choice
 PEER pressure – friends continuously compare marks and extent of revision done
 Not having a special friend from opposite sex .
 Achievement anxiety – fear of failure in academics
 Over expectation of parents , teachers and coaches,
 Poor performance in extra circular activities , sports etc.
 Ineffective time management
 Sleep deprivation – less hours of sleeping results in anxiety, anger, less concentration etc.

 Provide school based counselling for monitoring stress
 Provision of special classes or friendly teachers for weak
students
 Regular monitoring of syllabus, work load, for developing
unstressful studies
 Regular aptitude and psychological test of students
