The National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur was established in 1960 as one of the first eight Regional Engineering Colleges in India with the aim of producing high-quality technical graduates. It was converted to a National Institute of Technology in 2002 and has over 200 faculty and 4000 students across 12 departments, including engineering, science, and humanities. The Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department is one of the original four departments and focuses on materials technology, foundry technology, and related fields. An upcoming 6-day workshop on Advancement in Mineral Processing Techniques will be hosted by this department, with the goal of sharing knowledge on recent advances in mineral and coal processing among students, academics, and industry professionals.
