National Institute of Technology, Srinagar, a confluence of technical
excellence, scientific advancement and robust technologists, has been
empowering the industries and sciences all over the world since 1960.
The institute was one of the first eight Regional Engineering Colleges
established by the Govt. of India during the first 5 year plan.
The institute stands at the banks of the famous Dal Lake on one side
and holy Hazratbal Shrine on other, giving its students a peaceful and
serene environment to achieve excellence. It is well equiped with all
modern facilities. The curriculum is constantly updated. Students are
deputed for a compulsory 6-8 week Practical Training in an industry
or on a project to familiarize with the actual industrial environment
and to enhance their practical skills.

National Institute of Technology, Srinagar is the only technical institute of national
importance in the state of Jammu & Kashmir and is one of the premier technical
institutes of India. The institute was one of the first eight Regional Engineering
Colleges, established in 1960, by the Government of India. In 2003,the institute was
converted to National Institute of Technology by the Ministry of Human Resource
and Development, Government of India, as an institute of National Importance.
We have been imparting quality education since the inception of the institute by
focusing on technical advancements and research. The institute offers B.Tech
courses in eight different disciplines. Besides B.Tech courses, the institute offers
M.Tech programmes in Civil Engineering, Elecrtonics & Communication Engineering
and Mechanical Engineering and Ph.D programmes in all departments. The
students are admitted on the basis of JEE, DASA and GATE every year. Our faculty
members are actively participating in National and International Conferences and
Seminars, workshops and other related research activities.
It gives me immense pleasure to mention that NIT Srinagar has been awarded "OUTSTANDING ENGINEERING INSTITUTE
(NORTH)" by DAINIK BHASKAR in 2013 and "OUTSTANDING ENGINEERING INSTITUTE (NORTH)" by ABP NEWS in 2014.

The Department of Chemical Engineering, started in 1963, offers B.Tech

NIT Srinagar student bags record placement of Rs.72 lakhs per annum
A student from Computer Science and Engineering Department of prestigious NIT Srinagar has been placed with a record package. Tanay Abhra
(Enrollment 455/11) got placed in Epic Systems, USA with a package of 1,20,000 USD per annum (Approx. 72 Lakh rupees) and also in works
Application Japan with a package of 6 million Yen (Approx. 32 Lakh rupees).
This is the highest offer that a student from Computer Science & Engineering
Department, NIT Srinagar has received till date. The campus placement for the
department has been 100% over the past few years. Considering the department
of Computer Science & Engineering is new and established only in 2007, the
placement percentage has been phenomenal with students securing more than
one job on many occasions. The first batch passed out in 2011, and this year the
fifth batch of Computer Science and Engineering students will pass out with over
100% placement record. Companies like ONGC, Wipro, TCS, Samsung, Aricent ,
Oracle, Finisar Malaysia etc have been recruiting students regularly from the
Computer Science & Engineering Department.
Students from the department have also got a chance to intern in big companies
like Google and Microsoft. Various students from the department have gone
abroad for higher studies in renowned universities like University of North Carolina,
Arizona University and University of Texas A&M. Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, NIT Srinagar, Mr. Mohammad Ahsan
Chishti when contacted said, “It is a matter of pleasure that our students have been doing well in terms of placements. We have been regularly updating
our courses and syllabi to keep our students in touch with the latest in the field of Computer Science. Our director Prof. Dr. Rajat Gupta has been kind
enough to provide us infrastructure facilities including hardware and software for labs and has also made the campus vibrant with various activities
including Research Symposia, Conferences and Technical Festivals. The department has seen a significant increase this year in the number of students
placed and the number of offers made as compared to last year.” Praising the institute director for introducing innovative measures for making NIT
Srinagar among top engineering institutes, Chishti said the institute has been active and will have better placements in coming years.
PROCEDURE
1. Invitations are sent to the companies by E-Mail and post.
2. Company fills the Job Declaration Form (JDF) and send the same to the Training
& Placement Office, NIT Srinagar.
3. Date for Pre-Placement Talks is finalised by Placement Cell of NIT Srinagar.
4. Students to register themselves for the registered recruiter.
5. Company Officials conduct the Pre-Placement Talk apprising the following:

6. A placement schedule is finalised by Placement cell, NIT Srinagar in consultation with

sent to the Placement Cell, NIT Srinagar.

    MESSAGE FROM THEDIRECTOR www.nitsri.net NIT/2015-16 01/06/2015 National Institute of Technology, Srinagar is the only technical institute of national importance in the state of Jammu & Kashmir and is one of the premier technical institutes of India. The institute was one of the first eight Regional Engineering Colleges, established in 1960, by the Government of India. In 2003,the institute was converted to National Institute of Technology by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Government of India, as an institute of National Importance. We have been imparting quality education since the inception of the institute by focusing on technical advancements and research. The institute offers B.Tech courses in eight different disciplines. Besides B.Tech courses, the institute offers M.Tech programmes in Civil Engineering, Elecrtonics & Communication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering and Ph.D programmes in all departments. The students are admitted on the basis of JEE, DASA and GATE every year. Our faculty members are actively participating in National and International Conferences and Seminars, workshops and other related research activities. Adventure Sports In collaboration with N.A.F, NIT Srinagar organizes many adventurous events like para-sailing, rock climbing, mountaineering, etc. to enrich students with several different life experiences.     NIT SRINAGAR INNEWS www.nitsri.net NIT Srinagar student bags record placement of Rs.72 lakhs per annum A student from Computer Science and Engineering Department of prestigious NIT Srinagar has been placed with a record package. Tanay Abhra (Enrollment 455/11) got placed in Epic Systems, USA with a package of 1,20,000 USD per annum (Approx. 72 Lakh rupees) and also in works Application Japan with a package of 6 million Yen (Approx. 32 Lakh rupees). This is the highest offer that a student from Computer Science & Engineering Department, NIT Srinagar has received till date. The campus placement for the department has been 100% over the past few years. Considering the department of Computer Science & Engineering is new and established only in 2007, the placement percentage has been phenomenal with students securing more than one job on many occasions. The first batch passed out in 2011, and this year the fifth batch of Computer Science and Engineering students will pass out with over 100% placement record. Companies like ONGC, Wipro, TCS, Samsung, Aricent , Oracle, Finisar Malaysia etc have been recruiting students regularly from the Computer Science & Engineering Department. Students from the department have also got a chance to intern in big companies like Google and Microsoft. Various students from the department have gone abroad for higher studies in renowned universities like University of North Carolina, Arizona University and University of Texas A&M. Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, NIT Srinagar, Mr. Mohammad Ahsan Chishti when contacted said, “It is a matter of pleasure that our students have been doing well in terms of placements. We have been regularly updating our courses and syllabi to keep our students in touch with the latest in the field of Computer Science. Our director Prof. Dr. Rajat Gupta has been kind enough to provide us infrastructure facilities including hardware and software for labs and has also made the campus vibrant with various activities including Research Symposia, Conferences and Technical Festivals. The department has seen a significant increase this year in the number of students placed and the number of offers made as compared to last year.” Praising the institute director for introducing innovative measures for making NIT Srinagar among top engineering institutes, Chishti said the institute has been active and will have better placements in coming years.

A placement schedule is finalised by Placement cell, NIT Srinagar in consultation with the companies. 7. Placement Session commences: Student fills the application form. Shortlisted candidates appear for the selection procedure. 8. Placement Session ends with list of selected students along with the offer letter being sent to the Placement Cell, NIT Srinagar.
