My BackgroundMy curiosity with the world around me, nature and particularly animals began at an early age.I set up my first fish tank at the age of 8. I continued throughout my adult years maintaining aquariums. Now I have a marine tank. At an animal farm With my MomI also had hamsters, turtles, ant farms, salamanders and cats. Having grown up near the beach I loved to collect sea shells, driftwood and rocks. My curiosity was stirred most however by fish and other marine animals.Me with a parrot
At VA Tech I started out as a Biochemistry major. I eventually learned though that I enjoyed math, more than reading about enzymes and bacteria. After receiving my degree in chemistry I worked analyzing samples using chromatography (GC and HPLC) and writing laboratory reports for engineering or research departments. My hermit crabBeluga whale at Mystic AquariumMy felines investigating Spike, my puffer fish

I will also incorporate Bloom’s Taxonomy into my lessons to help students learn how to think scientifically and develop critical thinking skills.
Using a student-centered approach, their interests, their learning styles and differentiated instruction I hope to engage and inspire my students.I hope to make science fun.
