themes that it believes to be instrumental in
addressing human needs in developing
countries: Education Fund, Entrepreneurship

(EMBA) in Dubai knowing it would open doors
to new career opportunities. Within months of
starting the programme in early 2015, she left
a business development role for a general
management one at Legrand, which develops
electrical and digital infrastructure for
buildings.

Farahnaz Karim is the founder and CEO of
Insaan Group, a philanthropy fund that
connects philanthropists and corporations to
impactful social enterprises around education
and entrepreneurship in the monsoon region.
She has worked in several development
contexts including Tajikistan, Palestine, Bosnia-
Herzegovina, Pakistan, India and five years on
the ground experience in Taliban and post-
Taliban Afghanistan, with the UN, non-profits
and the World Bank. She holds an MPA from
the Harvard Kennedy School, and serves as
Faculty at Zayed University in Dubai, where she
teaches humanities and history at University
