The Center on Secondary Education for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (CSESA) is developing and studying a comprehensive high school program for students with ASD. When young adults with ASD leave school, many experience poor outcomes related to employment, independence, and social relationships. CSESA aims to address this need by implementing components focused on social competence, academics, transition/families, and personal responsibility across 30 high schools over 5 years, with half receiving the full program and half serving as controls. The goal is to improve post-secondary outcomes for students with ASD.
