An experienced medical services provider with a doctorate in nursing from
Rush University, Linda Gottwald has served as a nurse practitioner with the
Munson Medical Center for more than seven years. She also supervises
nursing students in mental health rotations as an adjunct faculty member
with Northwestern Michigan College and oversees the care and adoption of

On Oct. 3, 2018, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)
praised the US Congress in the wake of its bipartisan passage of
comprehensive opioid legislation. Central to the interests of the AANP, the
final bill contained a key provision that will help nurse practitioners provide
lifesaving medication assisted treatments (MATs) for patients battling
addiction. This provision takes the temporary MAT authorization polices of
the Comprehensive Addiction Recovery Act of 2016 and makes them
permanent.
