A Critique of the Proposed National Education Policy Reform
Aamby Valley's ISA goes to Singapore

ISA goes to Singapore…
The students of International School Aamby had been to Singapore
for their Enrichment week this year. The city was simply stunning. Singapore gets its name from the Malay word ‘Singa’ meaning lion and ‘Pura’
meaning city in Sanskrit. This old sea town as it was known earlier is a
marvelous combination of architecture, culture, modern amenities and
mouth watering dishes. The students had a lot to see and learn. They enjoyed themselves and have come back enriched and ready to take on the
next term.
Singapore Ecstasy!
We're going to Singapore, say what?! The news was welcome (obviously) but then there are two sides to every coin. While
most of us were busy packing and planning, some were sulking because of their passports, visas or IGCSE ICT' exams. Yet
on the day we departed from the ISA campus for the Chhatrapati Shivaji international airport, everyone waved and bid their
goodbyes. It was a happy sight. After a turbulence packed plane ride to Singapore, we checked in and rested at the hotel. In
the evening, we went to see some of the world's most fascinating species such as hippopotamus at the Singapore Night Safari. The next day was the city tour where we saw the amazingly juxtaposed land of new technology and old heritage
through the Singapore flyer, took pictures against the backdrop of the Merlion and visited the beautiful Marina Barrage. The
third day was something I was waiting for as it was the Universal Studios day! At the end of the extremely tiring day, we
went to experience something none of us had ever tried before, bungy ejecting! The exhilarating experience left us asking
for more of the adrenaline rush as we retired to the hotel for the night. While, day three was absolutely packed with screams
and action, day four was equally packed with action as we left for Sentosa. Water park, snorkeling, sky-ride and luge ride
were few of the things along with a dolphin show and an aquarium visit that we experienced. The end came with the spectacular show, Songs of the Sea. Alas, we had to go back to the hotel and pack for home. The last day was spent souvenir
shopping and traveling to the airport. I truly enjoyed myself on this trip and I'm sure I did fall in love with the clean and
"fine" place that is Singapore.

Day 1 - Singapore
Sightseeing and
Night Safari
The Night Safari was a ride I truly enjoyed.
We saw animals from all parts of the world.
One of my favourite animals was the African
Lion. After that we watched a show that was
performed by animals. It was fun and very
entertaining. The animals were so well trained. The little acts put
together by each animal made the show worth remembering. Kudos to the trainers.

Day 2 - Singapore Flyer,
Merlion, Marina Barage.
Did You Know
The second day of our trip had a lot of detailed
sightseeing. Our first stop was at the Singapore
Flyer. The aerial view of the city was simply spectacular. After our ride in the giant Ferris wheel
we went to look at the Merlion. We clicked a lot
of lovely pictures there. From there we moved on
to have lunch at the City Mall. We spent our
evening at the marina Barrage. All in all, we had a
lovely day.
3. Day 3 - Universal Studio
All of us are familiar with The Universal Studios,
for those of you who aren’t , its one of the biggest
and most entertaining group of theme parks in the world. So you can imagine our excitement . The fun we had there was above all expectations . Our gang of 8 boosted towards
the major attraction, the transformers ride. After fighting the megatrons and posing with
Optimus Prime we marched towards the mysterious world of the mummies, the heart
throbbing Egyptian roller coaster which we did 8 times , never declined in excitement.
The water show was equally fascinating, we had goosebumps watching the show . Oh! and
how can I forget Naman, Arjan and myself, smartly went and sat on the SPLASH zone,
and there we were completely drenched but we got the most fun out of it. Then the Jurassic Park water ride ,added to the relaxing part of the trip. We witnessed some breath taking shows there including the Monster Rock, The shrek 4D and not forgetting the Rockfellas Dance . All of them had that “WOW” factor in them. We clicked a trillion pictures
there , as all of the settings of the different animated movies were so realistic that
it felt we were actually in the movie. It really felt like a dream world. In all , it was
one of the best times we spent in Singapore.

Day 4 - Sentosa Island
A day at the Water World at Sentosa….Wow!!! I really had a
blast. In the morning we went snorkeling at the adventure cove.
The bright and colourful array of fish was breathtaking. We also
enjoyed a lot on the water slides. Lunch was at the Vivo city
mall. After which we moved on to enjoy the underwater world.
The dolphin and seal show was good fun. The day only got better with the sky ride and luge ride. The ‘Songs of the Sea’ was a
perfect ending to the a wonderful day. The fountain show was a
brilliant combination of laser technology, music, drama and
lights.
