How do you “undo” a  root ? Raise both sides of the equation to the  reciprocal  power (which cancels the root). For example: Undo a square root (or 1/2 power) by squaring it.
Raising an equation to a power can sometimes give you an  extraneous solution . This means an answer that doesn’t fit in the  original  equation.
