2. It is a place to buy and
admire. Besides admiring
the architecture and go
through the different
stalls of mollusks and fish -
fresh from the sea-, meats;
cheeses and vegetables -
fresh from the garden-,
visitors can buy goods and
taste fresh products in the
different bars and
restaurants.
3. Whenever you arrive in the market, all the
stalls draw you in since you feel like if you
where in the places where the goods belong
to, either in the port, in the garden or in the
countryside.
4. Even if you go to a big stall
or to a little one, the doors
are open inviting you in and
they are announced with big
or little signs in the name of
the owner, which makes you
believe in the products you
buy or taste, because it
sounds as if your granny or
granddad or even your
neighbours had grown up or
produced the food you can
find here!
5. All the market, as the rest of the city, is
made of brown stone, which is specially cosy
when is wet. The building has high ceilings
long corridors and big windows on top so it
makes it brightly lit.
6. It is crowded all morning long and even though
the radio is on you can only hear the people
talking here and there. There is no need of
merchandising in this market because the
salespeople sell the goods with their charming
speech and the fresh are sold by themselves
due to their attractive smell.
7. Being the building made of stone, it is always
cold in here, a relief in the hot summer, but
as it is so crowded you fell warm and you
enjoy shopping for a long time. Afterwards,
you are willing to stay a bit more to taste
the delicious drinks and food the
restaurants offer to you!
8. As for the salespeople, they are all
absolutely close and friendly. They are so
used to such amount of people coming that
they have the ability to have you served in a
short time. They address everybody as part
of the family making you feel comfortable
whenever you are shopping. They do not need
to follow a script and they invite you to
taste their products before you buy them,
which makes it more trustful.
9. The employees range from different ages
and sexes. They do not wear uniforms since
the majority of the stalls are family
businesses and of course they match the
image of the store.
10. Every stall is product based, that is to say,
they only sell goods of the same kind. So
that, all the goods are at the eye level,
normally displayed by function and the prices
are shown in the walls.
11. It might be not obvious, but costumers, either
alone or with someone else, come to this market
to buy since not buying with the amazing goods
you find is almost impossible. They are of
different sexes and ages and more and more
young people come to buy here, mainly whenever
you want to have a healthy diet.
12. Finally, the market is a landmark in the social
and the economic life of the city, and the
leader in the marketing of fresh products.
Besides, it is an emblematic building in the
town so it makes it attractive not only to do
shopping but also to visit!
