1) We should stop complaining and live a life that glorifies God for our own sake, so that we may be blameless, harmless, and above reproach as children of God.
2) We should do so for the sake of the unsaved people around us, shining as lights among a crooked and perverse generation by demonstrating God's life through our character and proclaiming the gospel through our words.
3) We should stop complaining for the sake of our pastors, so that they may rejoice in seeing the fruit of their labor when they give an account to God and not feel their work was in vain.

Sermon by: Brian Birdow
This document discusses Jesus' baptism and the lessons we can learn from his obedience. It is divided into three parts:
1) The Obedience of the Son. Jesus obeyed out of responsibility to fulfill all righteousness when he was baptized by John.
2) The Empowerment of the Spirit.
3) The Affirmation of the Father.
This document discusses occasions in the New Testament where individuals wept, and the spiritual lessons that can be learned from them. It examines Jesus weeping over Jerusalem because the people had rejected him, Peter weeping bitterly after denying Jesus, and Paul weeping as he thought about those who had disobeyed the gospel. The overall message is that we should weep over our own sins and the state of those who are lost, as it shows we understand our need for repentance and salvation.

The document emphasizes following Jesus' example of spending time with people, demonstrating zeal for God, and responding to faith through miraculous signs.
The document summarizes Jesus' command to his disciples to remain in Jerusalem and await the Holy Spirit, and that they would receive power to be his witnesses near and far. It then outlines the vision of Vintage Church to grow disciples of Jesus in authentic community for kingdom mission. Key vehicles for this include discipleship huddles, Sunday services, Bible reading plans, online messages, and missional communities - groups of 20-50 people that meet regularly for caring, sharing, and carrying out common missional goals in their neighborhood and beyond. Examples of current missional communities are provided.
This document discusses how apparent misfortunes in life can often contain hidden blessings. It references how the apostle Paul's imprisonment led him to write letters that guided the early churches. While things may seem difficult, God intends them for good and can bring fortune out of misfortune. The document encourages trusting God during disappointments and allowing him to turn difficulties into something beneficial.
The document discusses a visit by Brother Doyle Ratterlee to preach at Rossville Church from August 8-10. It then summarizes chapters from the book of Acts describing Paul's third missionary journey and the miracles performed through Paul in Ephesus, with evil spirits being cast out when handkerchiefs or aprons that touched Paul were taken to the sick. The document concludes by discussing the fruit of the Spirit from Galatians 5, with love, joy, peace and more being naturally produced in those who submit to the Holy Spirit.
Upside Down Living: Blessed are the PersecutedStephen Palm
This is the final sermon in the series Upside Down Living from Jesus' beatitudes in Mt. 5:3-12. It explores the difference between pressure and persecution, explores the facts concerning the global persecution of Christians and then suggests three practical action items that we can take to come alongside our persecuted brothers and sisters.
This document summarizes a passage from Acts chapter 8, where Philip is told by an angel of the Lord to go to the desert road from Jerusalem to Gaza to meet an Ethiopian official. Philip obeys God's command and meets the man, sharing the gospel with him and baptizing him. The document encourages believers to slow down, listen to God's guidance, and obey his instructions, trusting that God will provide for good outcomes as they follow his leading.
The document discusses the dangers of murmuring and disputing for Christians seeking to shine as lights in the world. It defines murmuring as complaining in low tones or grumbling, which was something the Israelites did in the wilderness and is a sign of dissatisfaction. Disputing refers to divisive arguing that can destroy the body of Christ and hinder convincing the world about Jesus. The document encourages having an attitude of gratitude instead and handling differences gently, patiently, and humbly.
The document discusses how idolatry and turning good things into ultimate things creates stress. It then describes an encounter Jacob had where he wrestled with a mysterious man until dawn. The man blessed Jacob and renamed him Israel after learning his original name was Jacob. The passage suggests this encounter was with God, as Jacob said he saw God face to face.
The prayer requests that God pour strength and courage upon believers so that they may welcome God through service to others. It asks that believers serve others generously and faithfully in God's name. The document then discusses passages from 1 Thessalonians encouraging believers as they wait for Jesus' return. It advises not wasting time on predictions but building each other up through faith, love, and hope while armor of God.

We can quench the spirit of our brethren, and God takes this very seriously. Two examples from the Israelites demonstrate the danger of discouraging our brethren from accomplishing his will. Discouragement leads to evil and the destruction of the people.
This document provides a summary of the weekly newsletter from the Woodinville Community United Methodist Church (WCUMC) for January 3, 2016. It discusses the Epiphany Sunday sermon focusing on the story of the Magi from the Bible and their response to Jesus. It also announces upcoming church events, such as children's ministry and Prime Timers meetings. Financial updates on the church's general and faith promise funds are included.
The document discusses Chapter 6 of the Book of Acts. It summarizes that the early church appointed seven men to distribute food fairly to widows. One of these men, Stephen, was full of faith and power and performed great wonders. However, his preaching stirred opposition and he was brought before religious leaders and accused of blasphemy. The document also provides context on key figures and groups mentioned in Acts 6.
Jesus chose twelve ordinary men as his apostles so that the glory would go to God rather than the apostles themselves. Paul reiterates this point in his letter to the Corinthians, saying that he deliberately kept his message plain so that the power of God, not his own skills, would be evident. Jesus does not choose people because of what they already are, but because of what he can make of them - he puts value in everyone.
Jairus, a synagogue leader, pleaded with Jesus to heal his dying daughter. On the way, a woman who had been bleeding for 12 years touched Jesus' cloak, and was healed. When Jesus arrived at Jairus' house, his daughter had died, but Jesus took her by the hand and said "Child, get up" and she was resurrected, to the astonishment of her parents.
The document contains passages from the Bible describing events surrounding Jesus' resurrection. It first describes how Mary Magdalene and another Mary discovered the empty tomb, encountering an angel who told them Jesus had risen from the dead. It then relates how Jesus appeared to the women and told them to share the news with his disciples. The passages go on to discuss Jesus appearing to his disciples and others after his resurrection and the significance of this event for believers.
The document discusses various perspectives on life and time based on passages from the Bible. It notes that life has complexity, uncertainties, brevity, and a spiritual element. Specifically, it emphasizes that time is precious and passing, the future is unknown, our days are limited, and we should recognize God's sovereignty over our lives.
The document contains various Bible trivia questions about books, people, and events from the Old and New Testaments. It also includes announcements about an upcoming Vacation Bible School and worship schedule at a church.
The document discusses how Christians can help shape culture through modeling godly character, producing excellent work, showing grace and love, influencing culture, speaking truth and justice, and sharing the gospel message. It provides several biblical examples of people who impacted their culture, such as Paul in Athens and David in ancient Israel. The overall message encourages believers to spread their light and be salt in the world in order to transform society rather than conforming to current norms.
The document contains a collection of Bible verses, quotes and short passages on various spiritual topics. Some of the key ideas discussed include:
- Devoting yourself totally and exclusively to following Jesus above all else.
- Loving God with your entire being and serving others as you would want to be served.
- Seeking first God's kingdom and righteousness in all things rather than being anxious about worldly possessions or concerns.
- Living according to the Spirit and Word rather than just physical needs like food and clothing.

This document contains multiple passages from the Bible and teachings from Leader O.O. Obu on various theological topics. It discusses Jesus Christ as the shepherd and bishop of souls, the appointment of Matthias to replace Judas after his betrayal, and teachings that the kingdom of God is not associated with any earthly nation or tribe. It warns against idolatry and promoting individuals over their roles in spreading God's word.
Joseph Smith felt similarly to Paul when he had his First Vision. Both saw visions but were met with disbelief and persecution. Joseph knew he had seen a vision of God and Jesus Christ, despite being hated and persecuted for saying so. He refused to deny what he had seen, as that would have been offending God.
The passage from Matthew 25:31-46 describes Jesus telling a parable about God separating people into sheep and goats on Judgment Day. The sheep are those who cared for "the least of these brothers and sisters" by feeding the hungry, giving drink to the thirsty, welcoming the stranger, clothing the naked, caring for the sick, and visiting the imprisoned. The goats are those who did not provide such care. Jesus says that by caring for others in need, one cares for Jesus himself. The sheep will inherit the kingdom, while the goats face eternal punishment.
The Danger of Procrastination - God presents us with opportunities to obey Him - The devil always strives to make certain that a convenient time to obey the Lord will never come!
The document discusses symbols and their true spiritual meanings. It claims that many symbols that are seen as belonging to others actually belong to each individual as representations of their inherent divine nature. It encourages people to wake up, take back their power, and see through the deceptions in the world by understanding that their beliefs shape their reality and that they are divine beings. It discusses biblical passages and symbols as representations of spiritual truths and events related to transforming one's perception and awakening to their true nature as God.
This document contains summaries of teachings by Leader Olumba Olumba Obu of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star. It discusses the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and asserts that since his resurrection, Jesus now appears everywhere simultaneously in multiple forms. It also claims that one cannot be reborn unless they die, and that regeneration occurs when a person is reincarnated as multiple persons after death. Leader Obu provides explanations for biblical passages and denies claims that he asserts he is God or Jesus, stating he is simply fulfilling a special mission to reform sinners.
This document discusses how Christians should live in light of the imminent return of Jesus Christ. It examines different views on the rapture and tribulation period. The key points are:
1. Every generation of Christians believed Jesus was coming during their lifetime, based on signs in the Bible.
2. The document reviews passages suggesting the rapture occurs mid-tribulation or post-tribulation, not pre-tribulation as many believe.
3. Based on Jesus' teachings, Christians should live in constant readiness for His return, providing for others and making prudent preparations, rather than ignoring the signs of the times. How Christians live should reflect their eagerness to see Him.

This document describes Paul's second missionary journey, including that he visited churches in Syria and Cilicia before joining Timothy in Lystra. The Holy Spirit prevented Paul from preaching in Asia and Bithynia, so he went to Troas where he was joined by Luke. There, Paul had a vision of a Macedonian man calling for help, so he went to Philippi and converted Lydia. Paul and Silas were imprisoned there but prayed and sang hymns at midnight, and an earthquake freed them.

The document provides an overview of Jesus' ministry in Galilee according to the synoptic gospels. It discusses Jesus teaching in parables, performing miracles, and sending out the twelve disciples. Key parables described include the sower, the seed growing secretly, the mustard seed and yeast, the weeds and the net. The document also notes Jesus withdrew from Galilee to critique Jewish traditions before his journey to Jerusalem.

Paul arrived in Rome under guard and was allowed to live on his own while chained to a soldier. He spent two years preaching about Jesus to all who came to see him. Some were convinced but others did not believe. Paul quoted Isaiah, saying the Jews had become hardened and closed their eyes to the truth. He announced that God's salvation was now being offered to the Gentiles. After two years, Paul's imprisonment in Rome ended, but he continued preaching until being arrested again and executed by beheading outside Rome around age 61.

The document discusses the harmful effects of gossip and slander in the church. It notes that gossip destroys joy in fellowship, diminishes the church's testimony, and demoralizes and divides the congregation. It provides remedies such as avoiding gossip, not listening to gossip, and distancing oneself from gossips. The goal should be healing wounds and building others up through kind speech.
The document outlines three keys to innovative leadership presented by Dr. Bobby Gilstrap. Key #1 discusses five intangibles of innovative leaders: they lead with drive, insight, personal connection, are contemplative, and lead with passion. Key #2 discusses seven principles: know yourself, let go of the past, learn your purpose, live with openness to change, learn teamwork, share leadership, and let creativity flourish. Key #3 discusses seven practices: listen to God, listen to people, help others succeed, speak truth in love, build networks, pursue excellence, and model stability.
8 Legal Concerns For Constitutions & Bylawsbobby gilstrap
Courts will hold churches accountable to their constitutions and bylaws when faced with lawsuits. It is important for churches to have up-to-date governing documents that address key issues like leadership, meetings, membership, and disputes. These documents establish the rules and procedures churches have authority to set for themselves. If documents are outdated or incomplete, courts may impose state statutes instead of allowing churches to govern themselves. Regular review and updates of constitutions and bylaws can help protect churches from certain legal liabilities.
The document discusses the dangers and sources of gossip and division within churches. It provides several Bible passages condemning gossip and urging unity. Gossip stems from issues like carnality, jealousy, desire for position and biblical illiteracy. Churches should have zero tolerance for gossip and slander in order to remain unified and protect members from harm.
This document summarizes the 51st annual meeting of the Huron Baptist Association in Michigan. It includes the order of events such as welcome, prayers, songs, reports from various ministry teams, recognition of achievements, and a closing message. The goal of the association is to link churches together to communicate Christ through evangelism, church planting, missions, leadership development, and other ministries.
A message that challenges Christians to be willing to pay the price to see friends and loved ones come to know Jesus. Paying the price in the battle; paying the price with their burden; and paying the price with their brokenness.
The document outlines the mission needs and opportunities in Michigan. It describes the large population size, high number of lost and unchurched people, and diverse religious and ethnic groups in the state. It specifically focuses on the challenges and opportunities in Livingston, Washtenaw, and Monroe counties, which have a small number of Baptist churches relative to the population. The director of missions encourages prayer support and volunteer involvement to help with church planting efforts, evangelism activities, and ministry projects aimed at reaching more people for Christ.
The document discusses the biblical concept of blessing and the importance of blessing being felt through touch, spoken through words, and attaching special value to the person being blessed. It then discusses the meaning and proper observance of taking communion or the Lord's Supper, including the criteria of being saved and not participating if one has not accepted Christ.
The document discusses what it means to be holy according to 1 Peter 1:13-2:1. It means that believers should think differently by focusing their minds on God, live differently by conducting themselves with reverence, and love differently with sincere, deep, and pure love for others. It also means speaking differently by ridding themselves of wickedness, deceit, envy, and slander. Being holy involves transforming one's mind and way of living to align with God's holiness. The document encourages examining one's own thoughts, actions, love for others, and speech to ensure they honor God.
The document discusses living in harmony according to 1 Peter 3:8-12. It provides five points on how to diffuse conflict and live peacefully with others: 1) Walk in another's shoes and understand their feelings without validating bad ideas. 2) Remember that as believers, we are on the same team and should love, show compassion, and be humble towards each other. 3) Instead of repaying evil with evil, we should give blessings to build up relationships. 4) Control our tongue and words to avoid deceit and conflict. 5) Pursue peace by turning away from evil, doing good, seeking peace, and diffusing conflict rather than starting fights. The goal is to behave as God does by diffusing
The document summarizes an upcoming audio conference featuring Ed Stetzer discussing his book "Comeback Churches" which examines 324 churches that experienced renewed growth after a period of decline. It provides background on Stetzer and an overview of the study methodology, and poses a series of questions to help guide discussion on principles for turning churches around and leading them to experience a "comeback".
1) The document discusses using technology in ministry, focusing on websites, email lists, online registration, social media, audio/web conferencing, and podcasting.
2) It provides examples of tools and services for these technologies, such as ConstantContact for email lists and GoToMeeting for web conferencing.
3) Data is presented showing that web registration had an 81% response rate compared to 12% for phone and 5% for email when registering for events.
Servant evangelism involves intentionally sharing one's faith through acts of service without any strings attached. It can be an effective way to reach people in today's culture and allows laypeople to creatively initiate ministry opportunities. Some examples provided include washing cars or windows, handing out snacks or other gifts, and serving the community through projects like car washes. The document emphasizes that people come to know Christ gradually through multiple exposures, so servant evangelism is meant to build bridges over time rather than expecting immediate conversions.

Acts 02 37 Baptism:First Step of Obediencebobby gilstrap
The document summarizes the key events and teachings around baptism presented in Acts 2:37-42. It outlines that hearing the word of God and personally accepting Jesus Christ should come before baptism. Baptism symbolizes the burial and resurrection of Christ and the believer's death to sin and new life in Christ. After baptism, one should join the church, grow in discipleship through teaching, fellowship, and prayer, and experience joy in their relationship with God and other believers. Over 3,000 people were baptized and added to the church on the day described in Acts.

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375
