This document proposes a Fuzzy Based Trust-Aware Routing Framework (FBTARF) for wireless sensor networks to improve security and energy efficiency. Wireless sensor networks are used for critical applications like military surveillance but face security issues from identity deception and data replay attacks. Current trust-aware routing protocols using cryptography have limitations in dynamic wireless sensor network environments. The proposed FBTARF framework uses fuzzification methods and a fuzzy-based trust model to provide more secure and energy-efficient routing while addressing the weaknesses of cryptographic techniques for wireless sensor networks, especially in mobile and harsh conditions. It was evaluated through simulation and experiments and shown to improve security parameters over alternative approaches.
