STRESS ANALYSIS OF CFRP STRENGTHENED SLABS SUBJECTED TO TEMPERATURE CHANGEIAEME Publication
This paper includes an experimental and analyticalinvestigation of flexural behavior ofreinforcedconcrete two-way slabs strengthened with CFRP sheets, CFRP bar due to
temperature change. Normal concrete was used to cast the slabs. The experimental work
includes testing of twelve reinforced concrete slab specimens with dimensions(900mmx900mmx70mm). These slabs can be dividedaccording to temperature change to three
groups at 23 ,45 and 80according to strengthening to four groups each group contain three specimens, first group was
tested without strengthening acts as reference slabs (control),second group was reinforcedwith (CFRP) bar, third group was strengthening with (CFRP) sheet 5cm each 10 cmand the
last group was strengthening with (CFRP) sheet 10cm each 20cm. The use of CFRP sheetsdelays the appearance of the cracks by (60%
strengthening. The experimental results showed that the slabs reinforcement with CFRP bar
reduces the ultimate load carrying capacity by (0.61%concrete slab. Also the experimental results show that theultimate loads are increased by
about (0.61%-83.03%) for the slabs strengthened with CFRP sheets with respect to theunstrengthened reinforced concrete slab (control slab). The increase in load carrying capacityof slab due to temperature change was (36.36%strengthening at 23 . The optimum a result was in the slabsstrengthen by CFRP sheets 5cmeach 10cm at temperaturestrengthen slabs . The numerical analyses present threecomputer program (ABAQUS 6.13).

USE OF SBR LATEXES TO MITIGATE INFERIOR CONCRETE PROPERTIES RESULTING FROM RE...IAEME Publication
In civil engineering works, the partial or complete replacement of natural coarse aggregate (NCA) by recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) is most often associated with inferior mechanical properties including bond to embedded steel bars. The main objective of this paper is to evaluate the efficiency of styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) polymeric latexes to compensate such losses. Two RCA quality types were tested in different concrete mixtures prepared with 320 or 440 kg/m3 cement; the SBR addition rates varied from 1% to 4% of cement mass. Test results have shown that SBR can remarkably improve RCA concrete compressive and splitting tensile strengths, particularly when curing is realized in air conditions at 23 3 °C and 50% relative humidity. The bond stress vs. slip curves remained fundamentally similar to those observed with NCA concrete. Yet, the initial stiffness was considerably accentuated with SBR additions together with improved responses of ascending curves and increased ultimate bond strengths.
Laboratory experimental study and elastic wave velocity on physical propertie...HoangTienTrung1
Pressure grouting has gained popularity as a soil reinforcement method. However, the behavior of the interface between rock and grout is not well known. This study investigates the interaction of pressure grouting and rock, through a series of laboratory tests performed on specially designed and fabricated equipment and using standard testing methods. The test measures the density, compressional strength, and frictional resistance of grout relative to the applied pressure and curing time. Simultaneously, the velocities of the elastic wave traveling through the grout are obtained to develop correlations between the physical properties of the grout and the test conditions. The results of the tests show that the density, compressional strength, and frictional resistance of the grout increase with applied pressure and curing time. The strengths of the influencing factors are seen to be correlated within the range of the test conditions. Using the results of these tests, the potential development of a new method that requires less cement was discussed.

A spouted bed is a special case of fluidization. It is an effective means of contacting gas with coarse solid particles .Gas-solid spouted beds are either cylindrical bed with cone base or the whole bed is in a cone shape where the gas enters as a jet. The gas forms a spout region that carries the solids upward in a diluted phase that forms a fountain at the top of the bed where the solids fall down and move downward in the annular region. Performance of gas-solid spouted bed benefit from solids uniformity structure with lower pressure drop (PD).Dropping of PD across a spouted bed could reduce the dissipated pumping energy and improve stability and uniformity of solid particles. The objective of this work is to study and selecting best operating conditions that could minimize PD across the bed. Optimization technique is a powerful tool would guide the experimental work and reduce the risk and cost for design and operation Hence, PD is to be considered as objective function of the optimization process .Three selected decision variables are affecting objective function. These decision variables are gas velocity, particle density and particle diameter. Steady-state measurements were carried out in a narrow 3-inch (0.076 m ID) cylindrical spouted bed made of Plexiglas that used 60° conical shape base. Radial concentration of particles (glass and steel beads) at various bed heights under different flow patterns were measured using sophisticated optical probes. A superficial velocity of air ranging from 0.74 to 1.0 m/s .PD was measured across the bed by high accuracy pressure transducers. Stochastic Genetic Algorithm (GA) has found suitable global search for the non-linear hybrid spouted bed. Optimum results could select the best operating conditions for high-performance and stable conditions. Uniformity and stability of solid particles in the bed would enhance hydrodynamic parameters, heat and mass transfer. Best Operability of the bed was observed with low-density, large size of solid beads, low gas velocity at low PD. Size of solid particles and velocity of gas have been found the sensitive decision variables with PD mutations. Sensitivity of these variables could be increased at unlimited upper bounds of operating conditions. An advanced control system for sensitive decision variables would be recommended to improve operability of the spouted bed.
In this paper we have analyzed the stress distribution over a rectangular specimen
with hybrid composite material at its central hole. Using Vacuum bag technique the
material has been fabricated and it consists of carbon and glass fiber with epoxy. The
cross ply lamina arrangement with alternate carbon and glass has increased the
strength of the structure. This is because carbon properties are high compared to
glass. The cutouts made in typical aircraft and automobile components reduce the
weight and bulking load carrying capacity of the aircraft according to the weight
reduction law. Three specimens were used to carry out experimental investigations as
per ASTM D5766 in the universal testing machine. We have analyzed and compared

Experimental Method to Analyse Limit Load in Pressure VesselIJMER
Pressure vessel contains with different inlet & outlet openings called nozzle or valves. The design parameter of these valves may different in one pressure vessel. These valves cause geometric discontinuity of the pressure vessel wall hence stress concentration may occur around the valve or nozzle. Since due to the high stress concentration there may be the chances of failure of vessel junction. Hence detail stress distribution analysis needs to be done for pressure vessel. Determination of limit pressure at different location on pressure vessel by using finite element method is less time consuming
and it avoid complex mathematical work at difficult geometries. So, it is essential to validate the result.
Experiments is conducted on oblique nozzle (450 with shell axis) & result obtained are used to validate
the finite element results. Distortion measurement test by measuring change in diameter of vessel after
vessel is pressurized using water. Twice elastic slope method & Tangent intersection method are used to
find out limit load estimation of cylindrical vessel with oblique (450) nozzle.
Gaskets in joints play an important role in the sealing performance of bolted flange joints, and their behavior is
complex due to nonlinear material properties combined with permanent deformation. The variation of contact stresses due to
the pressure of the flange and the material properties of the gasket play important roles in achieving a leak proof joint. In this
paper, a three-dimensional finite element analysis (FEA) of bolted flange joints has been carried out by taking experimentally
obtained loading and unloading characteristics of the gaskets for various thicknesses and loads. Analysis shows that the
distribution of contact stress has a more dominant effect on sealing performance than the limit on flange rotation specified by
ASME.
Design Optimization and Development in Air Pollution Control DeviceIJERA Editor
Electrostatic Precipitators (ESP) is the device used to remove the dust particles from the processed gases coming out of boilers in cement industries, and iron core industries. There are many governing factors that affect the efficiency from that one major reason is to fully filled hopper. When hopper fills 70 % of its full limit the precipitation process stopped of that particular hopper. For remedy dust removal efficiency is increased by hopper vibrator at the time of emptying bagasse ash from the hopper. The maximum displacement is getting by using different hopper wall thicknesses, stiffener spacing as well as different configuration vibrators. Due to minimum time to complete project there are many difficulties to test at every stage to improve the design and this results in increased project cost. For this situation there is one simple way to improve the design of equipment’s through simulation in ANSYS and validation by actual physical measurements. This project presents FEA approach for modeling and analysis the hopper of electrostatic precipitator using Static, Modal and Harmonic analysis. Actual model testing is done for the validation of results. The results coming out from the FEA analysis and testing are discussed.

Hierarchical Digital Twin of a Naval Power SystemKerry Sado
A hierarchical digital twin of a Naval DC power system has been developed and experimentally verified. Similar to other state-of-the-art digital twins, this technology creates a digital replica of the physical system executed in real-time or faster, which can modify hardware controls. However, its advantage stems from distributing computational efforts by utilizing a hierarchical structure composed of lower-level digital twin blocks and a higher-level system digital twin. Each digital twin block is associated with a physical subsystem of the hardware and communicates with a singular system digital twin, which creates a system-level response. By extracting information from each level of the hierarchy, power system controls of the hardware were reconfigured autonomously. This hierarchical digital twin development offers several advantages over other digital twins, particularly in the field of naval power systems. The hierarchical structure allows for greater computational efficiency and scalability while the ability to autonomously reconfigure hardware controls offers increased flexibility and responsiveness. The hierarchical decomposition and models utilized were well aligned with the physical twin, as indicated by the maximum deviations between the developed digital twin hierarchy and the hardware.
